Responsibilities

• Ensure timely closure of Non-Conformances within agreed timelines.

• Prepare Purchase Indents, obtain approvals, coordinate until PO release.
• Participate in Sunrise Meetings and communicate tooling updates.

Position Summary

The Junior Engineer / Engineer – Tooling will be responsible for designing, developing, validating, and maintaining Tools, Gauges, and Fixtures (TGF) required for aerospace manufacturing operations. The role involves design activities, cost estimation, supplier management, tooling documentation, QMS/IMS compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the tooling function.

Key Responsibilities

• Study specifications thoroughly and prepare 2D/3D sketches, models, and detailed drawings for Tools, Fixtures, and Gauges.
• Plan and execute manufacturing processes in coordination with machine operators and production teams.
• Investigate and identify cost-reduction opportunities through cost analysis reviews.
• Ensure timely closure of Non-Conformances (NCs) within agreed timelines.
• Identify critical TGFs, develop risk mitigation plans, and minimize downtime.
• Send enquiries to suppliers, review quotations, and ensure compliance with “should-cost” estimates.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
• Prepare Purchase Indents (PI), obtain approvals, and coordinate until PO release.
• Participate in daily department “Sunrise Meetings” and communicate tooling updates to the team.
• Prepare and review reports, maintain checklists, and ensure all tooling activities are completed before releasing the Bill of Tools.
• Escalate technical or administrative issues to TL/HOD as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
• Experience: 2–6 years of experience in Tooling, Fixtures, Gauges, Tool Crib, or related manufacturing engineering domains (Aerospace/Automotive).

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of tooling, fixture & gauge design concepts.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes & machining operations.
• Knowledge of costing, budgeting, and supplier coordination.
• Familiarity with QMS & IMS standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & AS9100).
• Strong documentation, reporting, and data management skills.
• Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines.
