Job summary

Flex is seeking a Junior Engineer – Component Engineering in Chennai to support entry-level data management for electrical components. You will maintain vendor lists, verify datasheets, and assist in selecting parts and suitable alternates within a cross-functional team.

The role requires knowledge of component principles, familiarity with PCB/layout concepts, and basic design software such as OrCAD, CIS, or Allegro. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 0–1 year experience in manufacturing/EMS.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• BE in E&TC/Electronics/EEE.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel/Word).
• Knowledge of electrical/electronic components.
• Familiar with circuit principles and board layout.

Responsibilities

• Enter and maintain component data and manufacturer information in the global component database.
• Create a component database for all Electrical/Electronic & Indirect materials; review datasheets.
• Guide part selection, design concepts, specs, and alternate sources.
• Validate AML and provide proper alternates if discrepancies exist.
• Monitor component EOL and manage obsolescence.
• Join cross-functional teams for product component changes.

Job Description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Junior Engineer – Component Engineering in Chennai.

What a typical day looks like:

• Enter and maintain component data and manufacturer information and approved vendor lists in global component database
• Create a component database for all the Electrical/Electronic & Indirect materials Quality review of the component parameter attributes from datasheets
• Provides guidance regarding part selection, design concepts, specification requirements, critical components and alternate sources.
• Validate AML and provide proper alternates if any discrepancies
• Monitor Component EOL and manage the component obsolescence
• Part of a cross-functional team in implementing product component changes within the Company
• Experience in Manufacturing /Engineering industry preferably in electronics.
• Good organization and technical communication skills to effectively monitor and convey component end-of-life (EOL) notifications and part change notifications (PCN’s) to Purchasing and Engineering.
• Familiar with circuit design principles and board layout guidelines, identifying alternate parts and manufacturers.
• Knowledge of any design software like OrCAD, CIS, Allegro desirable

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Knowledge of electrical and electronic components.
• Experience - 0 to 1 yrs
• Excellent written and oral communication skills MANDATORY.
• Working Knowledge of MS Office tools (MS Excel, MS Word)
• Good team player
• Good knowledge of electronic components and their applications to quickly evaluate the severity of EOL’s and PCN’s, and to evaluate potential alternates.
• experience as a in a manufacturing set up, preferably in EMS industry
• Qualifications-BE in E&TC/Electronics/EEE
