Job summary

Entity Jupiter Hospitals Projects Private Limited in India seeks a senior Pathologist to lead the Laboratory Medicine department, ensure continuous operation and readiness for emergencies.

You will supervise staff, maintain QA/QC, and oversee cytology screening and histopathology grossing, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards. The role requires MD Pathology and strong leadership to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• MD Pathology qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth running of the department and that the entire laboratory is fully operational and ready to meet any emergencies.
• Ensure that all equipment’s are operational and the staff is well versed in Operations of the same.
• Supervise the staff in all aspects and advise wherever necessary.
• Provide Continuous Medical Education for Staff and self.
• Evaluate competency of Staff at regular intervals.
• Supervise contract personnel to ensure that they work in accordance with the laboratory’s quality system.
• In case of emergencies, delegate work according to priority, responsibility and competency of Staff.
• To ensure that impartiality and confidentiality are provided in day to day working of the laboratory.
• Address any complaints, requests or suggestions from patients / Staff / Doctors.
• Verify the work instructions of the tests performed in the laboratory.
• Authorize and authenticate test report. Monitor all work performed in the laboratory to determine that reliable data are being generated.
• Responsible for over all compliance of the department with the requirements of quality management system.
• Implement a safe laboratory environment in compliance with good practice and applicable regulations.
• Preliminary screening of Cytology slides.
• Grossing of Histopathlogy specimens.
• Work towards lab improvement in terms of processes, systems & workload.
• Provide advice on choice of examinations and use of the services, including repeat frequency and required type of sample, if requested. Where appropriate interpretation of the results of examinations are also provided. Meet the clinical staff regarding the use of the laboratory services and for the purpose of consultation on scientific matters. And whenever necessary, take clinical rounds, enabling advice on effectiveness in general as well as in individual cases. Participate in professional development or other professional liaison.
• In absence of Director Pathology, Pathologist handles the responsibility of Director Pathology with help of Quality Control Manager and Technical Manager of Pathology.
• No financial or political consideration should influence any testing.
