Responsibilities

• Daily Editorial Review: Edit and proofread the NIE edition pages for accuracy and style.
• School Scoop Page Oversight: Coordinate with the RMD team for daily content and design.
• Guest Editions Management: Oversee ~75 guest editions annually from planning to delivery.
• Event Coverage: Provide timely, engaging reports for NIE events nationwide.
• Content Planning: Plan editorial content for regular and special NIE editions.
• Collaboration with NIE Centers: Source and refine user-generated content with centers.
• Other Assignments: Take on additional editorial tasks as needed.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Junior Assistant Editor to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial judgment, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to manage content from ideation to publication. This role requires a balance of creativity, precision, and leadership to ensure that our editorial output is engaging, accurate, and aligned with our vision.

What You Will Do:

• 1. Daily Editorial Review: Edit and proofread all six pages of the daily NIE edition to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to established style guidelines.
• 2. School Scoop Page Oversight: Coordinate with the RMD team to collect, edit, and oversee the design and content of the School Scoop page on a daily basis.
• 3. Guest Editions Management: Oversee the production of approximately 75 guest editions annually, from planning meetings to content curation and fi nal delivery.
• 4. Event Coverage: Provide editorial coverage for all NIE events held across the country, ensuring timely, engaging, and well-structured reports.
• 5. Content Planning: Plan and coordinate editorial content for both regular and special NIE editions, ensuring alignment with NIE's vision and student engagement.
• 6. Collaboration with NIE Centers: Work with NIE centers across the country to source, curate, and refi ne user-generated content for publication.
• 7. Other Assignments: Take on any additional editorial responsibilities or assignments as may be allocated from time to time.

What You Bring:

• 4-7 years of editorial experience in publishing/media (preferably in education, children's content, or newspapers).
• Strong editing, proofreading, and writing skills with a sharp eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive under deadlines while maintaining creativity and quality.

Education:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related fi eld.
