Job summary

HSBC Software Development India is seeking an experienced Consultant Specialist to join our frontend team. You will build enterprise-grade front-end features for complex trade and workflow applications using React, Redux and modern UI stacks.

You will own features end-to-end, collaborate with backend engineers, product owners, QA, designers and business stakeholders, and ensure performance and accessibility across desktop browsers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on front-end engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS/SCSS.
• Experience with Redux and asynchronous API integration.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests with Jest or RTL.
• Ability to translate requirements into scalable UI and maintainable code.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted tooling and DevOps practices.

In This Role, You Will

• Build and enhance enterprise-grade front-end features for complex trade and workflow applications using React, JavaScript, Redux, and related UI frameworks.
• Translate business requirements, UX designs, and product workflows into scalable, maintainable, and accessible user interfaces.
• Own feature delivery end to end, from technical design and estimation through development, testing, release support, and production stabilization.
• Work closely with backend engineers, product owners, QA, designers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable user journeys across multiple modules.
• Improve application performance, responsiveness, and usability across desktop and supported browser environments.
• Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, reusable component design, test coverage, and adherence to team conventions.
• Contribute to shared UI patterns, common components, and frontend architecture decisions to reduce duplication and improve consistency.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement durable fixes with strong attention to quality and regression risk.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to improve productivity in coding, debugging, documentation, and test creation while applying sound technical judgment.
• Support continuous improvement in DevOps, release practices, observability, security, and developer experience across the front-end stack.

To Be Successful, You Will

• Have around 5+ years of hands‑on front‑end engineering experience, with strong expertise in JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and modern UI engineering practices.
• Bring solid experience with state management patterns such as Redux, asynchronous API integration, and component‑based application architecture.
• Demonstrate strong problem‑solving ability in debugging complex UI issues, performance bottlenecks, and cross-browser behavior.
• Have practical experience writing unit and integration tests using tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, or similar frameworks.
• Understand how front‑end systems interact with backend services, authentication flows, API contracts, and production environments.
• Show strong ownership, communication, and collaboration skills when working in cross‑functional Agile teams.
• Be AI literate, with the ability to effectively use AI tools to accelerate delivery, validate outputs critically, protect sensitive data, and apply them within engineering governance standards.
• Have a quality‑first mindset with good judgment on maintainability, secure coding, accessibility, and scalable design.
