Job summary

EY is seeking a senior Java AMS leader in Chennai to drive end-to-end delivery across multiple clients. You will own the support and evolution of Java full stack applications with Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and modern UI frameworks.

• Experience delivering large-scale Java-based managed services programs.

Job description

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of Java-based application managed services (AMS) engagements across multiple clients.
• Own support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Java full stack applications (Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Angular/React UI).
• Guide and support teams in resolving complex production issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring application stability and performance.
• Drive application performance tuning, including JVM tuning, memory and thread optimization, API performance, and database optimization as needed.
• Support the maintenance of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Kubernetes, Docker) for Java applications.
• Drive automation, AIOps, and self-healing capabilities to reduce incidents and operational toil.
• Manage ITSM processes (incident, problem, change, release management) with strong governance.
• Track and improve SLAs/KPIs, including availability, MTTR, and defect leakage.
• Collaborate with architecture, cloud, DevOps, and business teams to align solutions with client goals.
• Mentor engineers on Java best practices, design patterns, and scalable architecture.
• Support presales, solutioning, and client discussions for Java-based transformation programs.
• Ensure compliance with EY risk, security, and data governance standards.
• Flexible to work in shifts or extended hours as required.

Skills and attributes for success

• Strong expertise in Java full stack ecosystem:
  • Java 8+ / Spring Boot / Spring Cloud
  • Microservices, REST APIs
  • Frontend frameworks (Angular / React)
• Deep understanding of application architecture:
  • Distributed systems, event-driven architecture
  • API gateway, caching, messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ)
• Strong experience in production support & performance engineering for Java applications.
• Proficiency in DevOps & cloud-native engineering:
  • CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab)
  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
• Strong grounding in ITIL/ITSM processes and service delivery governance.
• Ability to drive automation and AI-led operations (AIOps) for ticket reduction.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proven leadership in managing distributed teams and multi-client delivery.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in digital engineering / AMS / IT operations, with at least 5+ years in leadership roles.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java full stack technologies and enterprise application support.
• Experience delivering large-scale Java-based managed services programs.
