Job summary

Build & Hire is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to build and maintain scalable Java backends using Spring Boot. The role involves integrating REST APIs, working with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Oracle, and collaborating with DevOps and QA teams in a cloud/Kubernetes environment.

The candidate should have 6+ years of Java experience, strong Spring Boot, cloud, and CI/CD exposure, plus familiarity with OpenTelemetry, SonarQube, and testing frameworks.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Java backend development.
• Strong expertise in Core Java and Java 21.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Oracle databases.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle build tools.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment tools such as Argo CD.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry for observability.
• Familiarity with SonarQube for code quality.
• Experience using JUnit, Karate, ArchUnit, and Gatling for testing.
• Experience working with Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based backend applications using Spring Boot.
• Build scalable backend services deployed on cloud and Kubernetes environments.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Consume and integrate third-party REST APIs using JSON and OpenAPI specifications.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to build high-performance applications.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, version control, and DevOps best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, implement bug fixes, and deliver enhancements.
• Collaborate with architects, QA, DevOps and other stakeholders.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based backend applications using Spring Boot.
• Build scalable backend services deployed on cloud and Kubernetes environments.

• Consume and integrate third‑party REST APIs using JSON and OpenAPI specifications.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to build high‑performance applications.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, version control, and DevOps best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, implement bug fixes, and deliver application enhancements.
• Collaborate closely with architects, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders.
