This hands-on role requires owning backend design, development, deployment, and operation across production environments. You will collaborate with Product, Frontend, DevOps and QA teams to deliver reliable microservices and APIs in Java/Spring Boot, using Kafka for event-driven features, and mentoring juniors to raise engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of backend development experience.
• Hands-on with design, deployment and maintenance of microservices.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the backend platform from design and development to deployment and production support.
• Build scalable microservices and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot and use Kafka for event-driven features.
• Design data models with SQL databases, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Manage cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines and keep systems reliable through monitoring and performance tuning.
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers and explore where AI/LLM capabilities can add value to backend workflows.

About the Role
We are hiring a Backend Lead Engineer who enjoys building large, scalable systems and leading by example. This is a hands-on role where you will design backend services, build cloud-based microservices, keep production systems running smoothly and mentor other engineers. You will own the backend from design and development through deployment, monitoring and support. You will work closely with the Product, Frontend, DevOps and QA teams to build reliable systems that can serve thousands of merchants.
