Job summary

Kyndryl India is seeking an HR Payroll Professional to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, bridging employees and third-party vendors, and embedding our pay policies into the system.

You will lead Japan payroll end-to-end, handle social insurance, labor and resident tax, ensure compliance with regulations, support offboarding, and collaborate with global teams on payroll implementations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of HR Payroll experience with Japan payroll processing.
• Experience with Japan Social Insurance and Resident Tax management.
• JLPT N2/N1 proficiency for collaboration with Japan HR stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of payroll policies, regulatory compliance and taxes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate end-to-end Japan payroll processing and ensure accuracy.
• Serve as liaison with third-party payroll vendors and implementations.
• Interpret and apply vacation, leaves, disability, workers’ compensation and union contracts.
• Maintain compliance with government regulations and withholding exemptions.
• Support offboarding processes with internal teams and unions.

Required Skills and Experience

Overall 7+ years of HR Payroll experience, with at least 3years to 5 years of dedicated hands-on experience in Japan Payroll processing.

• Knowledge about Payroll and Accounting Processes
• Experience with payroll programs and MS Office Suite
• High degree of professionalism and ability to communicate with various levels of management
• Good understanding of employment law, regulatory and legal compliance to meet country specific requirements
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills, sensitive to data and detail orientated
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

• Required: Hands-on experience with end-to-end Japan payroll processing, including Social Insurance (Shakai Hoken), Labor Insurance, and Resident Tax (Jūminzei) management.
• Required: 3 years to 5years of experience in Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 or N1 (both written and verbal) for seamless collaboration with Japan-based HR stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business and Human Resources
• Previous experience in a similar role of at least 2-3 years
• Basic knowledge in other HR processes such as Compensation, Benefit, Talent Acquisition etc.
