The candidate will assemble components, perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on machinery, and replace worn parts as needed on the shop floor.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

Analyze engineering drawings, technical diagrams, and layout specifications to understand part dimensions, fits, and assembly functions.

Perform operations like sawing, filing, chipping, grinding, drilling, tapping, and reaming using hand tools or machine tools to size metal parts to close tolerances.

Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, slip gauges, and plug gauges to check components against required accuracy standards.

Assemble individual manufactured or repaired parts using screws, bolts, pins, rivets, or welding to build complete mechanical units or sub-assemblies.

Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance on industrial machinery, dismantle worn-out or broken parts, and replace or recondition them

Preferred candidate profile

Understanding of metal properties, heat treatment processes (annealing, hardening, tempering), and basic mechanics.

Ability to perform shop-floor calculations for dimensions, angles, thread pitches, and ratios.
