The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
The IT Engineer will provide end‑to‑end IT technical support for the Pune plant, ensuring reliable operation of manufacturing and business systems. This role supports both project and steady state environments, contributes to system improvements, and partners closely with plant stakeholders, site leadership, and corporate IT teams. The position offers strong opportunities for professional growth and advancement within Corning’s global IT organization.
Provide day‑to‑day IT technical support for plant systems and users.
Analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement effective and sustainable solutions.
Respond to customer requests and incidents within defined service levels.
Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and protection of information and systems.
Participate in and lead local IT projects, including plant build and Greenfield initiatives.
Represent IT interests in cross‑functional project teams (e.g., manufacturing, warehouse, commercial systems).
Create, document, and maintain IT processes, applications, and solutions.
Conduct and coordinate quality assurance and user acceptance testing.
Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and system performance.
Interact effectively with plant users, site leadership, and division/corporate IT teams.
Provide periodic written and verbal status updates to stakeholders.
Mentor technicians and train new personnel on standard operating procedures.
Stay current with emerging technologies (AI/ML) and recommend business‑relevant applications.
3–5 years of relevant IT experience.
Experience working in a manufacturing or plant environment.
Hands‑on experience supporting and delivering IT projects.
Exposure to plant build and/or Greenfield projects.
Proven problem‑solving skills in critical operational environments.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
