Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead process improvements in its electrical engineering domain. This role focuses on root cause analysis, defect reduction, and process optimization within a high-precision environment.

Role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 6–8 years of experience, and strong Lean/Six Sigma capabilities. The ideal candidate will drive safety, quality, and efficiency across cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from a premium institute.
  • Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause analysis for process and equipment failures (DMAIC, MEE).
  • Troubleshoot material, process and equipment issues; implement corrective actions to improve yield and uptime.
  • Apply SPC and other control methods to ensure quality and reduce variation.
  • Support new product introductions through equipment installation and process certification.
  • Ensure operator and equipment safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Lead projects to identify permanent solutions and drive cost reductions through efficiency gains and scrap reduction.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Operations/Manufacturing of Optical fiber
Key Responsibilities
Lead root cause analysis activity related to Process & Equipment failures through Problem Solving approaches (DMAIC, MEE etc.).
Trouble shoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective actions to improve yield, uptime & safety.
Identifying & implement process control measures including statistical process control (SPC) techniques to ensure consistent quality & reduce process variation.
Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps.
Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation and training.
Assures safety of operators and equipment and complies with safety and environmental regulations.
Proficient in use of statistical data analysis and DOE in process problem solving and process/product improvement.
Provides general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals), and capable of leading projects to get to root cause of issues and put permanent solutions in place.
Recommends and implements permanent solutions to long term performance issues and improves existing and new technologies and processes.
Drive cost reduction initiatives through scrap reduction, and process efficiency gains.
Participate in automation / digitization / Industry 4.0 projects for manufacturing processes.
Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) from premium institute
  • Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodology & Statistical analysis
  • Excellent problem-solving & analytical skill with ability to resolve complex process issues.
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams & stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of Safety & Quality
  • MS Access knowledge
  • Worked in Similar capacity & Responsibility for at least 6yrs. to 8 yrs. in a firm of repute.
Experiences/Education - Desired
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Knowledge of Automation & basic control system
