Jobtailor is seeking a senior architect to lead end-to-end full-stack development across frontend and backend systems in Chennai, India. You will mentor a 7-engineer team, drive architecture decisions, and ensure high-quality, scalable solutions.

You will collaborate with UX designers, implement SSR/SSG patterns, and advance AI-assisted coding practices while maintaining secure, compliant, and high-performance applications.

Qualifications

12+ years of engineering experience with leadership experience.
Strong Java (Spring Boot), React, and Next.js expertise.
Experience designing scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
Experience with SSR/SSG and AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

Architect end-to-end full-stack solutions across frontend and backend.
Mentor a team of 7 engineers and review PRs.

Job description

• Architect and design end-to-end full-stack solutions across frontend and backend systems
• Review engineers' pull requests and mentor them on coding standards, scalability, and best practices
• Collaborate with UX/design teams on consistent, intuitive, and responsive UI/UX patterns
• Design and develop scalable, secure APIs and backend services
• Build and maintain high-performance React/Next.js applications
• Lead server-side rendering and SEO-friendly web applications
• Manage deployments across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments
• Define and implement CI/CD pipelines for web applications
• Provide rotational/on-demand production support and ensure system stability and quick issue resolution
• Ensure high test coverage across unit, integration, and UI tests and enforce quality gates
• Guide and influence test automation via AI
• Lead adoption of coding standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices
• Champion AI-assisted development practices to improve code quality, automation, refactoring, documentation, productivity, and engineering consistency
• Evaluate and recommend frontend/backend technologies and frameworks
• Design solutions for security, scalability, and high availability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex technical initiatives
• Work in overlapping time zones with US East Coast teams as required

Requirements

At least 12+ years of engineering experience
Strong communication skills, passion for quality, attention to detail, and ability to lead a team of 7 Engineers across Development & Test Automation
Experience working across teams and driving alignment across multiple stakeholders
Significant experience with Java (Spring Boot preferred), React JS, and Next JS
Strong knowledge of server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and API-driven development
Significant experience designing and building scalable RESTful APIs and microservices
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar platforms
Ability to use AI coding assistants responsibly, validate generated code, follow secure coding practices, maintain code review discipline, write effective prompts, and protect confidential information
Strong understanding of web performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design
Experience building applications from concept/design through architecture, development, and production deployment
Strong understanding of MVC, MVVM, layered architecture, microservices, and event-driven architecture
Experience with authentication/authorization, including OAuth, JWT, and SSO
Good knowledge of AWS and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes
Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Experience using/integrating observability tools such as App D and Splunk
Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
Proficient understanding of Git
US Insurance domain experience is an added advantage
Familiarity with MetLife, Sun Life, or similar insurers is an advantage
Understanding of regulatory, compliance, and customer experience aspects in insurance systems
