Job summary

Infosys in Chennai seeks an experienced ServiceNow CMDB Specialist to own CMDB strategy, governance, implementation and operations within the ServiceNow ecosystem. You will manage CI relationships, data quality, asset lifecycle, and ITSM processes in a global, outsourced IT environment.

The role requires hands-on CMDB implementation experience, SME for discovery and service mapping, and strong collaboration with platform owners, external vendors, and IT security teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Configuration Management, CMDB Administration, or IT Asset Management.
• Experience in outsourced or managed IT service environments.
• Hands‑on experience with ServiceNow CMDB implementation and administration.

Responsibilities

• Own the CMDB strategy, roadmap, governance, implementation, adoption, and daily operations.
• Maintain CMDB data quality, accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
• Define, manage and govern relationships between Configuration Items (CIs).
• Establish CMDB standards, policies, and best practices.
• Act as SME for Discovery and Service Mapping; coordinate CMDB activities with Platform Owners and vendors.
• Manage integrations between ServiceNow and third-party systems (Intune, monitoring, discovery, asset repositories).
• Manage lifecycle of IT hardware and software assets; support license compliance and utilization.
• Support ITSM processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Asset Management).
• Define KPIs, dashboards, and audits to improve CMDB maturity and data health.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Service Now , IT CMDB Configuration Management & Asset Specialist to own and drive the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) strategy, governance, implementation, and operations within the ServiceNow ecosystem. The role will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of CMDB data while managing configuration items, service mappings, hardware and software assets, and their lifecycle management.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ServiceNow CMDB, IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Service Management (ITSM), and Configuration Management processes within a global and outsourced IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

CMDB Management & Governance

• Own the CMDB strategy, roadmap, governance, implementation, adoption, and daily operations.
• Maintain and improve CMDB data quality, accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
• Define, manage, and govern relationships between Configuration Items (CIs) through automated and manual processes.
• Establish CMDB standards, policies, and best practices.

ServiceNow CMDB Administration

• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for:
• Configuration Item Discovery
• Service Mapping
• Configuration Management
• Hardware Asset Management (HAM)
• Software Asset Management (SAM)
• Coordinate CMDB implementation activities with ServiceNow Platform Owners and external vendors.
• Manage integrations between ServiceNow and third-party systems such as Microsoft Intune, monitoring tools, discovery solutions, and asset repositories.

Asset Management

• Manage the lifecycle of IT hardware and software assets.
• Support software license compliance, asset tracking, and utilization management.
• Ensure asset information is accurately reflected within CMDB repositories.

ITSM Process Enablement

• Support and enhance ITSM processes, including:
• Incident Management
• Change Management
• Problem Management
• Asset Management
• Ensure CMDB data supports impact analysis and operational decision-making.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Define KPIs, dashboards, and service metrics related to CMDB and Asset Management.
• Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct regular audits and health checks to improve CMDB maturity.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with:
• IT Security
• Enterprise Architecture
• Regional IT Teams
• External Service Providers
• Finance Teams
• Business Solutions Teams
• Drive CMDB and Asset Management adoption through communication, training, documentation, and process awareness initiatives.

Experience

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Configuration Management, CMDB Administration, or IT Asset Management.
• Experience working in outsourced or managed IT service environments.
• Hands‑on experience with ServiceNow CMDB implementation and administration.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in ServiceNow CMDB.
• Experience with Discovery and Service Mapping.
• Knowledge of Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
• Knowledge of Software Asset Management (SAM).
• Experience with IT Asset Lifecycle Management.
• Understanding of Configuration Management best practices.
