Job summary

DATOMS in Bengaluru is seeking an IoT Solutions Engineer to design, develop, and maintain end-to-end IoT platforms from sensor to cloud. You will work on hardware-software integration across connected devices and industrial assets.

The role covers integration of industrial sensors, MCUs, and gateways, plus hands-on firmware in C/C++ and Python, with MQTT, Modbus, and TCP/IP. Collaborative cross‑functional work and OTA firmware updates are key parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, or related engineering field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in end‑to‑end IoT solution development or implementation.
• Firmware development in C/C++ and Python for embedded systems.
• Deep knowledge of ESP32/STM32/NXP microcontrollers and interfaces (UART, CAN, MODBUS, SPI, I2C, BLE, LoRa).
• IoT protocols: MQTT; industrial protocols such as RS485, Modbus, and UART; TCP/IP stack.
• Cloud platforms: AWS IoT or Azure IoT; Linux proficiency; Git; embedded debugging tools (JTAG).

Responsibilities

• Architect & Develop: Design and implement robust, scalable IoT solutions from sensor to cloud, ensuring seamless hardware-software integration.
• Integrate & Deploy: Connect sensors, microcontrollers, and gateways with the Datoms platform.
• Master Protocols: Develop, optimize data flows using Modbus, CAN, TCP/IP, MQTT, etc.
• Device Lifecycle: Manage provisioning, remote config, health monitoring, OTA/FOTA updates.
• Collaborate & Innovate: Work with software, data, and product teams on data models and analytics.
• Test & Troubleshoot: Rigorous testing and debugging with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, etc.
• Document & Support: Create architecture docs, API specs, deployment guides.

Role Overview :

We’re looking for a skilled IoT Solutions Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining IoT solutions that connect hardware devices with cloud-based applications. The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience in IoT protocols, embedded systems, and cloud integration along with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect & Develop: Design and implement robust, scalable IoT solutions from sensor to cloud, ensuring seamless hardware-software integration for connected devices and industrial assets.


• Integrate & Deploy: Integrate a wide range of industrial sensors, microcontrollers, and gateways with Datoms platform


• Master Communication Protocols: Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot data flow using industrial and IoT protocols such as Modbus, Canbusm TCP, RTU, etc.


• Own the Device Lifecycle: Manage the full lifecycle of IoT devices, including secure provisioning, remote configuration, health monitoring, and Over-the-Air (OTA/FOTA) firmware updates.


• Collaborate & Innovate: Work cross‑functionally with software, data, and product teams to define data models, ensure seamless data ingestion for analytics, and resolve complex system‑level issues.


• Test & Troubleshoot: Conduct rigorous testing, debugging, and performance analysis of embedded firmware and entire IoT systems using tools like oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.


• Document & Support: Create clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, and deployment guides to support internal teams and clients.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/B.E.) in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, or a related engineering field.


• Experience: 3–5 years of proven, hands‑on experience in end‑to‑end IoT solution development or implementation.


• Core Technical Skills:


• Firmware Development: Strong proficiency in $C/C $ and $Python$ for embedded systems.


• Embedded Systems: Deep understanding of 32‑bit microcontrollers (e.g., ESP32, STM32, NXP), their peripherals, and communication interfaces (UART, CAN, MODBUS, SPI, I2C, BLE, LoRa)


• IoT Protocols: In‑depth, practical knowledge of application-layer protocols like MQTT and industrial protocols like RS485 , Modbus, & UART Solid grasp of the TCP/IP stack.


• Cloud Platforms: Demonstrable experience working with at least one major IoT cloud platform: AWS IoT (IoT Core, Greengrass) or Azure IoT (IoT Hub, IoT Edge).


• OS & Tools: Comfortable developing in a Linux environment. Proficient with version control (Git) and embedded debugging tools JTAG, etc.


• Problem‑Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to debug complex issues that span hardware, firmware, and cloud.


• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
