Job summary

One Step Greener is a technology-driven waste management company focused on building efficient, transparent, and sustainable waste collection and processing systems. We are expanding our robotics and IoT capabilities to include AMRs, edge computing, and real-time monitoring, enabling edge-to-cloud communication and remote management.

As an IoT & Edge Engineer, you will develop and maintain the communication layer between robots, sensors, edge devices, backend services, and cloud platforms,

Qualifications

  • BE/B.Tech in CS, IT, Electronics, IoT or robotics.
  • Strong programming in Python or C++, or Java.
  • Knowledge of MQTT, REST APIs, WebSockets.
  • Experience with Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containers.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and data formats like JSON.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for robot-to-edge and robot-to-cloud communication.
  • Implement MQTT, REST APIs, WebSockets, and secure communication protocols.
  • Build telemetry, logging, diagnostics, and remote-monitoring modules for robotic systems.
  • Develop reliable data pipelines for transmitting robot health, sensor data, operational status, and system events.
  • Support Over-the-Air software and firmware updates.
  • Monitor robot health, logs, connectivity, and operational data.
  • Develop offline-first and store-and-forward mechanisms for unreliable network environments.
  • Collaborate with Robotics Software, Embedded, Cloud, and Backend teams for seamless system integration.
  • Work with Linux-based edge-computing platforms and embedded computers.
  • Participate in the testing, validation, deployment, and maintenance of connected robotic systems.
  • Maintain technical documentation and version control using Git.

IoT & Edge Engineer (Robotics)

One Step Greener is a technology-driven waste management and recycling company focused on building efficient, transparent, and sustainable waste collection and processing systems.

We use IoT, software, artificial intelligence, computer vision, automation, and data-driven technologies to improve waste collection, vehicle operations, warehouse management, material tracking, and recycling processes. As part of our technology expansion, we are developing connected robotics and warehouse automation solutions, including Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), edge-computing platforms, real-time monitoring systems, intelligent material movement, and automated operational workflows.

Our robotic and IoT systems communicate with edge devices, cloud platforms, operational dashboards, and fleet-management systems to enable real-time monitoring, diagnostics, remote management, and data-driven decision-making.

As an IoT & Edge Engineer, you will build and maintain the communication layer between robots, sensors, edge devices, backend services, and cloud platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop software for robot-to-edge and robot-to-cloud communication.
  • Implement MQTT, REST APIs, WebSockets, and secure communication protocols.

Required Skills
  • Good programming skills in Python, C++, or Java.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, ports, DNS, routing, and network troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of MQTT, HTTP/REST APIs, and WebSockets.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tools.
  • Basic understanding of Docker and containerized applications.
  • Knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Basic understanding of client-server architecture and distributed systems.
  • Understanding of data formats such as JSON.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Understanding of IoT architectures, device provisioning, and device-management concepts.
  • Familiarity with edge-computing concepts and edge-to-cloud data synchronization.
  • Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or InfluxDB.
  • Experience working with time-series data, telemetry, or monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with security concepts such as TLS, authentication, certificates, tokens, and secure device communication.
  • Exposure to message brokers, event-driven systems, or streaming platforms.
  • Experience with embedded Linux platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or similar edge devices.
  • Exposure to robotics, industrial automation, sensors, or connected devices is an advantage.
Educational Qualification
  • B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Internet of Things, Robotics, or a related discipline.
