Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator in Pune, India, responsible for conducting quantity take-offs and producing estimates based on project specifications. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's in Construction Management, along with at least 6 years of relevant experience.

The role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in estimating techniques, and familiarity with design software such as ACAD and Revit. While no travel is needed, a fluent command of English is essential.

Job Description

Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricings as applicable to project. Recognizes and applies appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS) structure. Processes and identifies complete scope of project with limited levels of design definition. Assists in coordination of overall corporate estimating functions. Produces quantity take-offs by reviewing plans and specifications in assigned areas. Identifies specific discipline take-offs within their specialized disciplines (Concrete structures, Steel structures, Mechanical piping, Electrical and HVAC). Enters quantity take-offs in Sage Timberline, material unit pricing as applicable to specific discipline and creates a final OPCC report to internal & external client. Good understanding of water/wastewater infrastructure and associated country code requirements. Coordinates estimate material pricing from vendors and other sources. Completes general administration and record keeping duties including computer input and upkeep of estimating software. Assists with project buyout, troubleshooting and/or startup for their specific discipline when requested by Project staff. Close coordination with respective design discipline lead for scope definition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering & master’s degree in construction management or equivalent.

• Thorough knowledge of company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Work experience using ACAD, Revit, Civil 3D preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend drawings and specifications.
• Ability to perform conceptual & design estimates in multiple trades and review estimates in many trades.
• Ability to estimate many types of projects/contracts.
• Strong personal computer skills including intermediate knowledge of estimating and on-screen digitizing software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills essential.
• Fluent command of spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications like AACE and CPE preferred.
