Job Description Interior Designer

Position

Interior Designer — Studio

Role Overview

We are looking for an Interior Designer to join our studio team. The ideal candidate should have a good basic aesthetic sense, strong design understanding, and the ability to develop ideas into detailed drawings and 3D visualisations.

The role will involve working closely with the design team, consultants, vendors, and site teams to ensure that designs are executed accurately and that project updates are communicated on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop interior design concepts, layouts, furniture designs, material selections, and detailing as per project requirements.
• Create and modify AutoCAD drawings for plans, elevations, sections, furniture details, and execution drawings.
• Develop SketchUp 3D models and produce good-quality 3D renders to communicate design intent.
• Understand materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, hardware, and basic construction details.
• Coordinate with senior designers and the studio team during the design development process.
• Coordinate with different site vendors, contractors, carpenters, fabricators, electricians, painters, etc.
• Visit project sites when required and understand site conditions and execution requirements.
• Communicate design requirements clearly to vendors and site teams.
• Check work at site against approved drawings and designs and highlight discrepancies.
• Share timely site updates, photographs, measurements, progress reports, and issues with the studio team.
• Follow up with vendors to ensure that work is progressing as per the agreed timelines.
• Identify execution issues and coordinate with the design team for appropriate solutions.
• Maintain organised drawings, revisions, material details, and project documentation.
• Work within project timelines and ensure that assigned design and site-related tasks are completed on schedule.

Required Skills

Design & Aesthetic Sense

• Good basic aesthetic sense and understanding of proportions, colours, materials, textures, and finishes.
• Ability to understand and develop design references into practical interior solutions.
• Good attention to detail and willingness to learn and improve design skills.

Software Skills — Must Have

• AutoCAD — Mandatory
• SketchUp — Mandatory
• 3D Rendering — Mandatory
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop/Enscape/V-Ray/Lumion or similar software will be an added advantage.

Site & Coordination Skills

• Basic understanding of interior execution and construction processes.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and interior drawings.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple vendors and contractors at site.
• Good follow-up skills and ability to track pending work.
• Ability to identify basic site/execution issues and communicate them clearly.

Communication Skills

• Basic communication skills are essential.
• Should be comfortable speaking with vendors, contractors, site supervisors, and the internal design team.
• Should be able to clearly communicate drawings, design intent, changes, and execution requirements.
• Must provide regular and timely updates regarding site progress, pending work, and issues.
