Job summary

Changepond Technologies is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Design Engineer to join our Chennai team. The role focuses on designing, documenting, and detailing control & instrumentation systems using AutoCAD, with a strong emphasis on timely, quality deliverables.

Ideal candidates will have 7+ years in basic and detailed engineering, proficiency in instrument datasheets, I/O lists, and P&ID drawings, and familiarity with global instrumentation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in electrical/electronic engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in basic and detailed engineering with deliverables such as instrument lists and IO lists.
• Experience with P&ID, cable schedules and instrument datasheets is expected.
• Strong familiarity with IEC/IS/NEMA/CSA standards for global projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare control & instrumentation documentation and specifications.
• Ensure timely E&I engineering deliverables with quality.
• Maintain engineering documents in soft and hard copies.
• Create basic/detailed drawings for electrical control & instrumentation in AutoCAD.
• Coordinate technical inputs to meet project schedules.
• Review vendor documents for contractual compliance and approvals.
• Contribute to improving engineering efficiency.

JD - (Control & Instrumentation Designer - AutoCAD) :-

1. Design & Preparation of all types of Control & Instrumentation Documentation, calculations & specifications
2. Ensuring timely completion of E&I engineering project requirements with quality.
3. Maintaining engineering documents in soft & hard copies.
4. Design & Preparation of basic / detailed engg. documents for Electrical control & instrumentation.
5. # C&ID / P&ID / Panel & JB drawings / instrument List / I/O List
6. # Electrical & Instrumentation Location drawings in AutoCAD 2D/3D.
7. # General arrangement & Single Line drawings in AutoCAD.
8. # Control Schematics, Loop drawings, Interconnection drawings and Cable schedules.
9. Proficiency in Design Software such as AutoCAD.
10. Plan & coordinate for technical inputs with proactiveness to meet the project schedules.
11. Good Knowledge of various Instrumentation Standards used with different applications.
12. Preparation/Review of various Electrical / Instrumentation specifications to meet the project/contractual requirements.
13. Should coordinate with Stake holders independently on drawing / document approval.
14. Review/approval of electrical / Instrumentation vendor documents meeting the project/contractual requirements.
15. Shall be able to contribute for improving on engineering efficiency.

Required Skills:-

• Bachelors degree (or equivalent 4-year degree) in electrical, electronic, or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7+ years of proven experience in basic and detailed engineering, including preparation of deliverables such as Instrument Lists, IO Lists, Cable Interconnection Drawings, Cable Schedules, Instrument Hook-Ups, Instrument Location Plans, JB Grouping and Instrument Datasheets.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including electrical and control wiring diagrams, P&IDs, I/O lists, cable schedules, instrument lists, and termination drawings.
• Extensive experience in AutoCAD, MS Office, and other modern engineering tools.Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of key engineering standards (IEC, NEMA, CSA, IS, etc.) relevant to global projects
