  • Support training sessions, workshops and hackathons organized by the lab.

Job description

Job Title: Technical Instructor - Innovation Lab
Reporting to Director - Skill Development.

The Lab Instructor will be responsible for the technical management, maintenance, and operational support of the Leap Innovation Lab. The role involves assisting students and startup teams in prototype development, operating lab equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting innovation programs and hands‑on training sessions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lab Operations & Technical Support
  • Manage day‑to‑day technical operations of the innovation lab.
  • Maintain and operate lab equipment such as 3D printers, CNC machines, IoT kits, electronics workstations, robotics tools, and software systems.
  • Provide hands‑on technical assistance to students during prototype development.
  • Ensure proper documentation of equipment usage and maintenance logs.
2. Prototyping & Product Development Support
  • Assist students and startup teams in building prototypes and proof‑of‑concept models.
  • Support PCB design, embedded systems development, mechanical fabrication, and testing activities.
  • Guide students in safe usage of tools and innovation equipment.
  • Help troubleshoot hardware and software‑related issues.
3. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to lab safety protocols and government guidelines.
  • Conduct safety briefings and equipment orientation sessions.
  • Monitor proper usage of lab resources to prevent damage and misuse.
  • Maintain inventory records and asset registers.
4. Training & Workshops
  • Support the Faculty Coordinator in conducting hackathons, innovation challenges, and technical workshops.
  • Assist in organizing bootcamps and hands‑on training programs.
  • Provide demonstrations on emerging technologies (IoT, AI, Robotics, EV systems, etc., based on lab focus).
5. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain records of lab utilization, student projects, and prototype outcomes.
  • Assist in preparing reports required by K-Tech / KITS.
  • Document student innovation activities and success stories.
6. Infrastructure & Resource Management
  • Monitor procurement needs for consumables and spare parts.
  • Ensure proper calibration and servicing of lab equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors for maintenance and technical support.
Required Qualifications
  • B.E. / B. Tech in Computer Science / Mechanical / Electronics / Electrical / Mechatronics / or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in laboratory management, prototyping, or technical support (preferred).
