Job summary

Ekya Schools in Bengaluru seeks a Science Instructional Designer to lead curriculum design, assessment planning, and instructional resources for Senior School Science, owning the full lifecycle from design to evidence-based improvement.

You will collaborate with teachers and coordinators, develop interdisciplinary STEM learning resources, and conduct professional development, updating content across digital platforms while traveling extensively across Ekya campuses.

Qualifications

• Experience designing science curricula and assessments aligned to standards.
• Ability to develop interdisciplinary STEM resources and project-based learning.
• Experience in professional development for teachers and coordinators.
• Familiarity with CBSE/ICSE and other boards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Science curriculum using research-based practices.
• Develop curriculum frameworks, lesson plans, assessments, laboratory activities, and learning resources.
• Ensure alignment with Board and State requirements and manage curriculum transitions across grades.
• Maintain and update Science content across digital learning platforms.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, pedagogies, and best practices in Science education.
• Demonstrate subject expertise in at least one Science discipline and collaborate across campuses.

Job description

We are looking for a Science Instructional Designer to lead curriculum design, assessment planning, and instructional design for Senior School Science. The role will own the end-to-end curriculum lifecycle from design and implementation to assessment and evidence analysis and support teachers and coordinators through professional development and instructional resources.

Educational Qualifications

• B.Sc./M.Sc./M.Phil./Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines.
• B.Ed./M.Ed. with a Science specialization or relevant Science Education/STEM qualifications may also be considered.

Experience

• K-12 teaching or learning-resource development experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, IB, Cambridge, competency-based, inquiry-based, and STEM learning approaches.
• Experience developing interdisciplinary, project-based, experiential, or laboratory-based learning resources is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Science curriculum using research-based practices.
• Develop curriculum frameworks, lesson plans, assessments, laboratory activities, and learning resources aligned with learning outcomes.
• Ensure alignment with Board and State curriculum requirements and manage curriculum transitions across grades.
• Maintain and update Science content across digital learning platforms.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, pedagogies, curriculum frameworks, and best practices in Science education.
• Demonstrate subject expertise in at least one Science discipline, with strong knowledge of the broader Science curriculum.

Assessment & Student Learning

• Design assessments and analyse data to identify learning gaps, trends, and student progress.
• Develop baseline assessments, remediation plans, and tools to measure learning outcomes.
• Recommend teaching-learning strategies and interventions to maintain high academic standards.
• Design enrichment and STEM-based self-paced learning opportunities.

Teacher Development & Academic Support

• Support teachers in planning effective, inquiry-based and experiential learning experiences.
• Design and conduct professional development sessions on curriculum, pedagogy, assessments, laboratory practices, and instructional strategies.
• Conduct curriculum and pedagogy audits and visit campuses to understand contextual requirements and recommend improvements.
• Support new ELC team members in understanding Ekya's pedagogy, curriculum, and culture.

Science & STEM Programmes

• Plan and monitor Science competitions, STEM fairs, exhibitions, Olympiad preparation, innovation programmes, and career-awareness initiatives.
• Develop Science engagement programmes for students, teachers, and parents.
• Monitor programme implementation and evaluate effectiveness.

Core Competencies

• Strong understanding of scientific inquiry, experimental design, data interpretation, critical thinking, and STEM education.
• Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of current Science curriculum, pedagogy, assessment practices, and educational technology.
• Familiarity with LMS, Google Workspace, digital learning platforms, simulations, virtual laboratories, and AI-enabled learning/content tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet timelines, collaborate effectively, and work independently.
• Willingness to travel extensively across CMR K-12 and Ekya campuses.
