Responsibilities

Interface with patients, attendants, physicians and service users with responsiveness.
Implement infection control practices effectively.

Coordinate with the Microbiology laboratory for inpatient investigations.
Relate pathogenic organisms to hospital areas, maintain logs and monthly stats.
Supervise isolation techniques and provide clinical advice on infection control.
Establish surveillance of discharged patients and maintain PEP records.
Ensure compliance with QMS, EMS and disaster management policies.
Maintain safe equipment use and waste disposal systems.

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Core Responsibilities

To effectively interface with patients / attendants / physicians / other service users with high level of responsiveness.
To demonstrate adequate knowledge skill in implementing infection control practices.
To be able to plan an effective infection control programmed in order to keep low infection rate.
Liaise closely with the hospital Microbiology laboratory (for scrutiny of inpatients investigation reports to detect pathogenesis).
Co relates the pathogenic organisms to the respected areas in the hospital.
Compiling the data in the logbook daily while on rounds and a monthly report of statistical data to the ICC, which is neatly tabulated.
Supervise and advice on isolation techniques generally and in specific clinical situation.
Provide clinical advice and support to Nurses, Healthcare workers and Nonclinical Personnel on infection control issues.
Establishes a follow-up surveillance of discharged patients.
Maintains records of needle stick injured and post exposure prophylaxis.
To have complete orientation of QMS and EMS system of hospital.
To have complete awareness about Disaster Management Programme (DMP) of the hospital.
To comply with the service quality process, environment & occupational issues & policies of the respective area.
To comply with patient safety policy.
To ensure safe utilization of equipment and proper waste disposal system.

Medication Errors =0% overall Infection rate=0%
Equipment with infection risk = Nil.
Stock handling errors (non-return of expiry items on time) = 0%
Conformance to ISO TATs as per standards laid down.
