Job summary

MRF in Chennai seeks an experienced Industrial Engineering Manager to lead productivity improvements, manpower optimization, work-study initiatives, and global manufacturing excellence projects across operations.

The role focuses on establishing industrial engineering standards, improving OEE, and driving continuous improvement initiatives for world-class performance. 10–18 years of IE experience within manufacturing is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering related to manufacturing.
  • Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Drive IE initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop plant KPIs and productivity improvement plans.
  • Conduct work studies to set standard work practices.
  • Standardize IE norms across operations.
  • Analyze manpower requirements and optimize deployment.
  • Lead OEE and bottleneck improvements with maintenance and production.
  • Lead Lean, Kaizen, 5S and cost-reduction projects.
  • Optimize material flow, layouts, and ergonomics.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant labor regulations.
  • Mentor IE staff and conduct capability-building training.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced candidate for Industrial Engineering to lead productivity improvement, manpower optimization, work-study initiatives, and operational excellence projects across manufacturing operations. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing industrial engineering standards, improving equipment effectiveness, optimizing resource utilization, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve world-class manufacturing performance.




Key Responsibilities

Industrial Engineering & Productivity Enhancement


  • Drive Industrial Engineering initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost competitiveness.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor plant-wise KPIs and productivity improvement plans.

  • Conduct work measurement studies, time and motion studies, and method studies to establish standard work practices.

  • Develop and standardize industrial engineering norms across manufacturing operations.


Manpower Planning & Optimization


  • Analyze manpower requirements for production, maintenance, quality, and support functions.

  • Establish scientific manpower norms and workforce deployment strategies.

  • Monitor labor productivity and identify opportunities for optimization.


OEE & Manufacturing Excellence


  • Lead Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement initiatives for critical and bottleneck processes.

  • Analyze and improve machine utilization, cycle times, and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to eliminate productivity losses.


Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing


  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Drive waste elimination, process optimization, and cost reduction projects.

  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.


Material Handling & Ergonomics


  • Optimize material flow, storage systems, and shop-floor layouts.

  • Implement ergonomic improvements to enhance safety, productivity, and operator comfort.

  • Reduce non-value-added activities through improved workplace design.


Industrial Relations & Compliance


  • Review and support productivity-related agreements and settlements.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, including the Factories Act and labor laws.

  • Work closely with HR, operations, and plant leadership on productivity enhancement initiatives.


Training & Capability Building


  • Mentor Industrial Engineers and manufacturing teams on IE tools and methodologies.

  • Conduct training on work-study techniques, productivity analysis, and lean practices.

  • Share best practices and drive standardization across functions.


Educational Qualification


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related disciplines.

  • Master's Degree (preferred) is an added advantage.

  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt), or Operational Excellence is desirable.


Experience


  • 10 - 18 years of experience in Industrial Engineering within manufacturing industries.

  • Strong experience in manpower planning, work-study, productivity improvement, OEE enhancement, and Lean Manufacturing.

  • Experience in multi-site manufacturing operations will be preferred.
