Our team collaborates with Walmart International, which has over 5,900 retail units operating outside of the United States under 55 banners in 26 countries including Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few.

What You’ll Do

Design and lead the development of enterprise-scale data platforms that support advanced analytics, real-time decisioning, and machine learning, software development use cases across the organization.

Drive architectural decisions and set engineering standards for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and access—ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to translate business needs into robust data solutions.

Champion data quality, governance, and observability, implementing frameworks and tools to ensure trusted, compliant, and well-documented data assets.

Mentor and influence engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across the data engineering function.

What You’ll Bring

Experience (3+ years) in data engineering, Java development with a proven track record of building and scaling complex data systems in cloud-native environments (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).

Deep expertise in modern data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, BigQuery, Snowflake, Delta Lake, and orchestration frameworks.

Strong programming and data modeling skills, particularly in Java, SQL, and distributed computing paradigms.

Experience leading large-scale data initiatives, including data platform modernization, real-time streaming, and data mesh or lakehouse architectures.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capability to influence technical direction, align stakeholders, and drive strategic outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area.
• Experience creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and ability to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines to support an inclusive culture.
