Job summary

Purview Services seeks a senior IBM i (AS/400) Administrator to join our end-to-end platform operations in a 24x7 production environment. This role requires deep expertise in IBM i operations, availability, performance management, and crisis handling with a strong ownership mindset.

You will own multi-LPAR IBM i operations, manage PTFs, BRMS, HA/DR readiness, and mentor Production Support teams in a high-availability setup.

Qualifications

• Must have strong IBM i system administration experience in production environments.
• Hands-on with LPAR, PTFs, IPL, subsystem and job management.
• Expertise in BRMS backup and restore operations.
• Experience with ASP/IASP management and storage administration.
• HA/DR exposure including Role Swap, recovery testing, and audit readiness.
• Strong incident management, RCA, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in 24x7 environments.

Responsibilities

• Own endtoend IBM i platform operations across multiple LPARs.
• Manage PTF lifecycle, IPL planning, subsystem tuning, job queues, output/spool control.
• Administer storage and availability including ASP/IASP management, BRMS backups and restores.
• Execute and manage Role Swap (HA switchovers/failovers) with prechecks and poststabilization.
• Provide strong P1/P2 incident response including triage, impact assessment, vendor engagement, and RCA ownership.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation.
• Act as Technical SME and mentor for Production Support teams.
• Work in 24x7 shift and oncall rotations with disciplined handovers.

Role Overview

• Own endtoend IBM i platform operations across multiple LPARs including capacity, performance, and availability management.
• Manage PTF lifecycle, IPL planning, subsystem tuning, job queues, output/spool control.
• Administer storage and availability including ASP/IASP management, BRMS backups and restores, HA/DR readiness, and recovery testing aligned to RTO/RPO.
• Execute and manage Role Swap (HA switchovers/failbacks) with prechecks, validations, stakeholder communication, and poststabilization.
• Provide strong P1/P2 incident response including triage, impact assessment, vendor engagement, and RCA ownership.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation.
