Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Private Limited in Pune is seeking a Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer to develop and integrate low-level software for automotive ECUs. You will work with hardware teams on board bring-up, driver development, RTOS integration and ECU software integration.

Candidates should have 5–10 years of embedded experience, with strong C and MCAL/HAL, RTOS, bootloader and ECU integration skills. Exposure to CAN, LIN, Ethernet is required, along with collaboration in CI/CD and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related disciplines.
• 5-10 years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong experience in Embedded C, BSP Development, Board Bring-up, MCAL/HAL Development, ECU Integration, RTOS, Bootloader Development.
• Good to have: C++, Python.
• Experience with CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART.
• Experience with automotive microcontrollers (Infineon AURIX, NXP S32, Renesas RH850, ST).
• Working knowledge of Linker Scripts, Memory Mapping, Startup Code, Build Systems, Debuggers, Git.

Responsibilities

• Perform microcontroller and board bring-up activities.
• Develop and integrate MCAL Drivers, ECAL Components, HAL Drivers, Device Drivers, Bootloaders.
• Develop startup software and platform initialization logic.
• Configure interrupt and memory management frameworks.
• Integrate software on new hardware platforms and perform debugging.
• Support communication stack integration.
• Develop and maintain drivers for CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART.
• Contribute to build automation infrastructure and CI/CD solutions.
• Support ASPICE and Functional Safety activities.

Job Description

Role Overview

The Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for development and integration of low-level software components for BMW automotive ECUs. The engineer will work closely with hardware design teams and contribute to board bring-up, driver development, RTOS integration, and ECU software integration.

Key Responsibilities

Embedded Platform Development

• Perform microcontroller and board bring-up activities.
• Develop and integrate: MCAL Drivers, ECAL Components, HAL Drivers, Device Drivers, Bootloaders
• Develop startup software and platform initialization logic.
• Configure interrupt and memory management frameworks.

ECU Software Integration

• Integrate software on new hardware platforms.
• Perform software and hardware debugging.
• Support communication stack integration.

Driver Development

• Develop and maintain drivers for: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, PWM, GPIO, DMA, etc.

Development Automation

• Contribute to build automation infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain build scripts and CI/CD solutions.
• Support software configuration and release management.

Quality & Compliance

• Participate in software reviews.
• Support ASPICE and Functional Safety activities.
• Support cybersecurity implementation requirements.

Required Qualifications
