Job summary

ProLegion is seeking an experienced HVAC & Thermal Lead Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of thermal management systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role focuses on HVAC design, thermal analysis, product validation and coordination with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable cooling solutions.

The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of relevant experience, and will oversee air-cooled and liquid-cooled battery thermal management, review CFD results,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's in Thermal Engineering/HVAC preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in HVAC and thermal design for BESS or similar systems.
• Experience in design validation, CFD/thermal simulations, and cross-functional coordination.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop HVAC and thermal management systems for BESS containers and battery enclosures.
• Perform heat load calculations, cooling system sizing, airflow management, and thermal performance optimization.
• Lead the design and validation of air-cooled and liquid-cooled battery thermal management systems.
• Review thermal analysis reports, CFD simulations, and engineering documentation.
• Design coolant circuits, piping layouts, and support pressure testing and reliability improvements.
• Coordinate with Electrical, BMS, PCS, EMS, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams.
• Support product qualification, FAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, UL, and other applicable industry standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and support new product development initiatives.
