Job summary

StrainX Bioworks in Bhopal seeks an HR leader to own the entire HR function across three environments: a manufacturing plant, a research lab, and a corporate office. You will report directly to leadership and work with department heads with no intermediate layers.

About us

StrainX Bioworks is a deep tech company building biology at industrial scale. We design microbes that produce proteins that today come from animals and plants, and we manufacture them ourselves at our plant near Bhopal. We have more than 100 people, a plant that is already running, and customers trialing the product.

Our factory is at Tamot near Bhopal. Our research center is in Bengaluru. Our corporate office is in Bhopal.

We spent three years building quietly before we said anything publicly. Today we are more than 100 people; we are venture-backed, our plant is running, and customers are trialing our product. This is a real company with real operations, not a startup that is just getting started.

The role

We are looking for an HR professional to own the HR function. Not to assist it. To own it.

You will be the person the whole company goes to for anything people-related, across three very different environments: a manufacturing plant, a research lab, and a corporate office. Each has its own rhythm, compliance requirements, and kind of employee. That variety is the job.

You will report to leadership and work directly with department heads. No layer sits between you and the decisions.

What you will own

• Day-to-day HR operations for the whole company, run independently.
• Recruitment coordination: hiring plans with department heads, interview scheduling, candidate communication, offers, and closing.
• Onboarding, employee documentation, and the full employee file from joining to exit.
• Attendance, leave, payroll inputs, HR records, and statutory compliance.
• Clear HR trackers, processes, deadlines, and reporting that hold up without anyone chasing you for them.
• Employee communication, day-to-day issue resolution, and putting policy into practice.
• Improving the HR function as the company grows, including the systems it runs on.

What we are looking for

• 7 to 10 years of end-to-end HR experience. Core HR, not only recruitment and not only administration.
• Someone who takes ownership and makes things happen without being followed up with.
• Organized and proactive. You build the tracker before someone asks for it.
• Confident and firm when a situation calls for it, and calm while doing it.
• Strong communication and the ability to hold your ground with department heads.
• Based in Bhopal, or ready to relocate and work full-time from Bhopal.
