Job summary

TRIGO India is seeking an experienced Hull / Hull Outfit / Painting & NDE Inspector for shipbuilding and marine inspection. The role covers hull fabrication quality, welding, coatings and NDE activities, with final handover of compartments and structures.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering with 5–7 years in shipbuilding or marine engineering, and NDT certification. Knowledge of IMO/SOLAS and classification societies is required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair or marine engineering.
  • NDT Level II / Level III certification relevant to weld inspection and material testing.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
  • Hands-on experience in NDE/NDT, weld inspection and leak testing.
  • Knowledge of IMO and SOLAS and classification society requirements (ABS, DNV, IRS, Lloyd's Register).
  • Experience in hull, hull outfit, painting and NDE inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fabrication, assembly and installation of hull-related components including plates, panels, bulkheads and fittings.
  • Inspect hull subassemblies, including welding, dimensional checks, leak testing and coating activities.
  • Conduct tank inspections covering dry surveys, leak testing, blasting and painting.
  • Monitor onboard installation of doors, hatches, scuttles, windows and tanks.
  • Inspect critical structural and outfitting components such as draft marks and HVAC systems.
  • Verify hot work checklists as per CLO requirements.
  • Ensure compartments are cleared before painting and insulation activities.
  • Support inspection of final completion activities, including deck covering and compartment handover.
  • Strong understanding of ship design and hull construction processes.
  • Good knowledge of marine materials, material science and testing methods.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
  • Hands-on experience in NDE/NDT methods, weld inspection and leak testing.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding classification requirements and applicable standards.
  • Identify potential quality issues proactively to minimize rework, delays and defects.
  • Familiarity with IMO/SOLAS and classification society requirements.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Hull / Hull Outfit / Painting & NDE Inspector with strong expertise in shipbuilding and marine inspection. The role involves inspection and quality control of hull fabrication, assembly, outfitting, welding, painting, NDE activities, and final completion of ship compartments and structures.

Hull & Hull Outfit Inspection
  • Oversee fabrication, assembly and installation of hull-related components including plates, panels, bulkheads, ladders, foundations, towing and mooring arrangements.
  • Inspect hull subassemblies, including welding, dimensional checks, leak testing and coating activities.
  • Conduct tank inspections covering dry surveys, leak testing, blasting and painting.
  • Monitor onboard installation of doors, hatches, scuttles, windows and tanks.
  • Inspect critical structural and outfitting components such as draft marks, sea chest gratings, anodes, fenders and HVAC systems.
  • Verify hot work checklists as per CLO requirements.
  • Ensure compartments are appropriately cleared before painting and insulation activities.
  • Support inspection of final completion activities, including deck covering, insulation and compartment final handover.
  • Strong understanding of ship design and hull construction processes.
  • Good knowledge of marine materials, material science and testing methods.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
  • Hands-on experience in NDE/NDT methods, weld inspection and leak testing.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding classification requirements and applicable standards.
  • Ability to identify potential quality issues proactively and minimize rework, delays and defects.
  • Working knowledge of international maritime standards and regulations, including IMO and SOLAS.
  • Familiarity with classification society requirements such as ABS, DNV, IRS and Lloyd's Register.
  • Good understanding of welding procedures and pressure/leak testing methods.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding codes and requirements related to structural integrity, safety and quality.
  • NDT Level II / Level III certification relevant to weld inspection and material testing.
  • Diploma / Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair or marine engineering.
  • Previous experience in hull, hull outfit, painting and NDE inspection for ships will be highly preferred.
