Responsibilities

  • Safety Management: conduct HIRA and enforce procedures, PPE compliance on shopfloor.
  • Compliance & Audits: adhere to regulations and ISO 45001/ISO 14001, support audits.
  • Incident Management: investigate incidents, perform RCA, implement CAPA.
  • Environmental Management: monitor ETP/STP, waste handling, pollution norms.
  • Training & Awareness: conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Permit to Work: issue/monitor high-risk permits and contractor safety.
  • Emergency Preparedness: develop drills and maintain emergency equipment.

Job Title: Plant HSE Engineer

Location: Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu

Experience: 3 10 Years

Employment Type: Full-Time

Shift: Rotational Shifts (3 shifts)

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Plant HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) professional to manage and ensure workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental standards in a manufacturing plant environment. The role involves working in rotational shifts and closely collaborating with production, maintenance, and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Management

  • Conduct Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA)
  • Implement and monitor safety procedures across the plant
  • Ensure safe practices for high-risk activities (confined space, work at height, hot work, etc.)
  • Enforce PPE compliance on the shopfloor

2. Compliance & Audits

  • Ensure adherence to statutory regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems
  • Prepare for and support internal/external audits

3. Incident Management

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA
  • Maintain incident records and safety KPIs

4. Environmental Management

  • Monitor and manage ETP/STP operations
  • Ensure proper waste management and disposal practices
  • Comply with pollution control norms

5. Training & Awareness

  • Conduct safety induction programs for new employees
  • Deliver regular toolbox talks and safety training sessions
  • Promote safety culture across all plant functions

6. Permit to Work (PTW) System

  • Issue and monitor permits for high-risk jobs
  • Ensure contractor safety compliance

7. Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and execute emergency response plans
  • Conduct mock drills (fire, evacuation, chemical spill)
  • Maintain firefighting systems and emergency equipment

Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma / BE / B.Tech in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering disciplines
  • Note: Civil, Computer Science, and Information Science backgrounds are not preferred

Certifications (Mandatory)

Candidates must possess one or more of the following certifications:

  • NEBOSH (IGC / Diploma)
  • IOSH
  • OSHA (10/30 hours)
  • ADIS / Diploma in Industrial Safety
  • ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 (Internal/Lead Auditor – preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • 3 to 10 years of experience in Plant / Manufacturing / Factory EHS roles
  • Hands-on experience in:
    • Shopfloor safety management
    • Risk assessment (HIRA)
    • Incident investigation & audits
    • PTW system and contractor safety
