Job summary

FIS - Fidelity Information Services in India seeks a Lead Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable Java-based microservices and backend applications using Spring Boot. You will own end-to-end feature delivery, mentor teams, and drive technical excellence across product owners and architects.

You will work with COBOL, TAL, HP Non-Stop Tandem, NS-SQL, and related utilities, ensuring reliability, performance, and quality through automated testing and monitoring.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software development experience with COBOL, TAL and tandem utilities.
• Designs and develops on HP Non-Stop Tandem; troubleshoots issues.
• Strong coding practices and solid understanding of scalable architectures.

About the Team

Our team is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting highly scalable, resilient, and performance-driven applications that serve our global customer base. We leverage modern engineering practices, cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and distributed messaging platforms to build secure and reliable solutions. As a Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence, mentoring engineering teams, collaborating with Product Owners and architects, and ensuring successful end-to-end delivery of business-critical initiatives.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-performance Java-based microservices and backend applications using Spring Boot and related technologies.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and the adoption of software engineering best practices.
• Design and implement code and functionalities in HP Non-Stop Tandem technology involving COBOL, TAL and other utilities.
• Ensure application reliability, performance, and quality through automated testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and proactive optimization.

What You Bring

• 9+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in COBOL, TAL and other tandem utilities.
• Proven experience designing and developing functionalities on HP Non-Stop Tandem and help troubleshoot issues.
• Strong understanding of application designs and best coding practices.
• Hands-on experience with COBOL, TAL, NS-SQL, Pathways, FUP, Enscribe etc.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to understand business needs and articulate technical solutions in business-friendly language while effectively working with internal and external customers.
• Self-motivated and adaptable team player with strong problem-solving, research, multitasking, time management, and presentation skills, demonstrating a positive attitude and willingness to take on challenging tasks while embracing feedback and continuous learning.

Added Bonus If You Have

• Experience working within the FinTech, Banking, Payments, or Financial Services domain.
• Experience with HP Non-Stop Tandem and its utilities.
• Familiarity with performance engineering and high-throughput transaction processing systems.
