Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Horticulture Manager to oversee the development, maintenance, and overall management of landscapes, gardens, lawns, plants, trees, and green areas. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of horticultural practices, landscaping operations, manpower management, and plant health.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all horticulture and landscaping activities are completed efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality, aesthetics, cleanliness, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and manage day-to-day horticulture and landscaping operations.
- Manage lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, flower beds, indoor and outdoor plants, and green spaces.
- Develop and implement seasonal plantation and landscaping plans.
- Monitor plant health and identify diseases, pests, nutritional deficiencies, and other issues.
- Coordinate pruning, trimming, mowing, watering, fertilization, plantation, and pest-control activities.
- Ensure proper irrigation and efficient utilization of water resources.
- Manage horticulture staff, gardeners, supervisors, and other support personnel.
- Allocate daily duties and monitor workforce productivity and attendance.
- Train and guide gardening staff on proper horticultural techniques and safety practices.
- Maintain adequate stock of plants, fertilizers, pesticides, gardening tools, equipment, and other materials.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for plants, landscaping materials, equipment, and maintenance services.
- Conduct regular inspections of landscaped areas and prepare maintenance reports.
- Ensure proper cleanliness and presentation of all green areas.
- Prepare maintenance schedules, work plans, and manpower requirements.
- Monitor horticulture expenses and ensure optimum utilization of resources.
- Maintain records related to plantation, fertilizer usage, pesticide application, manpower, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Handle client/site requirements and resolve horticulture-related operational issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscaping, Botany, or a related field.
- 36 years of relevant experience in horticulture, landscaping, facility management, residential/commercial projects, hotels, institutions, or large green-area maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, seasonal flowers, fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation systems.
- Good manpower and team-management skills.
- Ability to plan and supervise multiple horticulture activities simultaneously.
- Good knowledge of landscaping equipment and gardening tools.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage site-level operations.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office/Excel for reporting and record keeping.
