Job summary

Captain Tractors is seeking a senior transmission systems leader to drive development and integration of high HP tractor transmission platforms. You will define specifications, targets, and validation criteria for next‑gen gearboxes and driveline systems, and oversee DFMEA, DVP&R, and supplier collaboration across global partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the complete development and integration of Higher HP tractor transmission, gearbox, driveline, axle, PTO, and hydraulic interface systems.
• Define product specifications, performance targets, durability requirements, and validation criteria for new tractor transmission platforms.
• Drive New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept to commercialization for higher horsepower tractor transmission and drivetrain systems.
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of transmission systems, gearboxes, gear trains, clutch systems, differential assemblies, range selectors, shuttle mechanisms, and final drive systems.
• Develop transmission architecture and gear ratio strategies to achieve desired vehicle performance, productivity, and fuel efficiency targets.
• Ensure transmission and drivetrain systems meet targets related to torque transmission, reliability, durability, operator comfort, and field performance.
• Lead vehicle performance evaluation, transmission benchmarking, and competitive analysis of domestic and global tractor brands.
• Plan and execute validation activities including gearbox testing, endurance testing, field trials, durability testing, and reliability assessments.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for transmission, gearbox, driveline, and axle-related field failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, and Vendor Development teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Drive value engineering, cost optimization, localization, and continuous product improvement initiatives for transmission and gearbox systems.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, transmission layouts, technical specifications, DFMEA, DVP&R, and design documentation.
• Collaborate with suppliers and technology partners for advanced transmission technologies, gearbox components, gears, shafts, bearings, and drivetrain solutions.
• Mentor and guide cross‑functional engineering teams on transmission design, gearbox development, driveline integration, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, safety norms, and company quality standards.
• Support strategic roadmap development for future higher HP tractor transmission platforms and advanced agricultural machinery products.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, technical risks, and deliverables to achieve project objectives within schedule.
• Lead innovation initiatives focused on improving transmission efficiency, gear shifting quality, durability, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Provide technical leadership during design reviews, management presentations, and customer feedback analysis.
• Support field issue resolution and continuous product improvement programs through data‑driven engineering decisions.
• Build and strengthen technical capabilities within the R&D organization through knowledge sharing, best practices, and technical mentoring.
