Position: Supply Chain Head
Job Purpose
To lead and manage the complete supply chain function, ensuring uninterrupted availability of raw materials, effective inventory control, timely production support, efficient logistics, and on-time delivery of finished goods to customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supply Chain Planning
- Develop and implement effective supply chain strategies in line with production and business requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores, Sales, Finance and Logistics teams.
- Prepare material requirement and supply plans based on production schedules and customer orders.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of critical raw materials and consumables.
2. Purchase & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with the Purchase team for timely procurement of materials.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, quality and commercial commitments.
- Develop and maintain a reliable supplier network.
- Follow up on pending purchase orders and critical materials.
3. Inventory Management
- Monitor raw material, WIP, finished goods and consumable inventory.
- Maintain optimum stock levels and minimize excess, shortage and obsolete inventory.
- Establish and monitor minimum/maximum and reorder levels.
- Conduct regular stock reviews and coordinate physical stock verification.
4. Production Coordination
- Coordinate with Production Planning to ensure material availability as per production requirements.
- Identify potential material shortages and take preventive action.
- Monitor material flow from stores to production and from production to finished-goods stores.
5. Logistics & Dispatch
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations.
- Ensure timely dispatch of finished goods as per customer requirements.
- Coordinate with transporters and logistics partners.
- Monitor freight costs, vehicle availability and delivery status.
- Ensure proper documentation for domestic and export shipments, wherever applicable.
6. Cost Control
- Identify opportunities for reduction in procurement, inventory, transportation and logistics costs.
- Monitor freight and other supply-chain-related expenses.
- Improve material utilization and reduce avoidable inventory carrying costs.
7. MIS & Reporting
- Prepare regular supply-chain MIS reports for management.
- Monitor KPIs such as inventory turnover, stock ageing, OTIF delivery, supplier performance, purchase lead time and logistics cost.
- Provide management with timely information regarding critical shortages, delays and risks.
8. Team Management
- Lead, guide and develop the Supply Chain, Stores, Logistics and related teams.
- Define responsibilities and performance targets for team members.
- Ensure proper coordination between departments.
