Job summary

Merck Healthcare in Mumbai seeks a senior leader to own end-to-end supply continuity for a complex healthcare portfolio across India. You will shape the India Supply Network Operations strategy, drive IBP and oversee inventory governance, warehousing, distribution and order management.

Head of Supply Network Operations – India (all genders)
Your Role

In this pivotal role, you will own end-to-end supply continuity for a complex and fast-growing healthcare portfolio across India, driving resilience, availability and growth-readiness across imported and locally manufactured products. You will set the Supply Network Operations strategy for India, lead the country Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, and direct inventory governance, warehousing, distribution and customer order management. Operating at the centre of a demanding cross-functional environment, you will partner closely with Commercial, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Finance and External Manufacturing to connect supply decisions with market priorities and patient needs. As a member of both the Emerging Growth Markets Supply Network Operations leadership team and the India Healthcare Leadership Team, you will represent supply as a strategic voice at country and above-market level, shaping network direction, building resilience and developing the capability of your team.

Who You Are
  • Substantial senior experience in supply chain operations, ideally in healthcare or biopharma, with proven managerial responsibility for a team and a track record of delivering results across planning, inventory, logistics and continuous improvement in a complex, regulated market.
  • Strong ownership and accountability mindset, with the ability to take end-to-end responsibility for outcomes, remove obstacles proactively and drive decisions to closure across a matrixed, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority at senior levels, building trusted relationships across Commercial, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, External Manufacturing, Finance and global operations.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturing organisations and external supply networks, including capacity planning, launch readiness, performance management and business continuity.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen, with a clear understanding of how supply chain decisions affect revenue, profitability, customer service, market growth and patient access.
  • Working knowledge of IBP and S&OP processes, SAP or equivalent ERP systems, and modern planning tools; a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to embed standard ways of working.
  • Sound judgement under pressure, with the ability to lead through disruption and ambiguity, translate complex supply data into clear recommendations and keep people focused and accountable.
  • A degree in supply chain, engineering, business, pharmacy or a related discipline; an advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification such as APICS is an advantage. Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Hindi is an advantage.
