Job summary

Utrade Solutions in Mohali/Mumbai seeks an experienced Head of Operations to lead end-to-end trading technology operations. You will oversee Linux/Trading Infrastructure and Functional Operations across algorithmic trading, proprietary and institutional desks, ensuring high availability and responsive production support.

The role requires deep capital markets knowledge, hands-on trading tech experience, and proven leadership of cross-functional teams in a high-pressure production environment.

Job title: Head of Operations

Location : Mohali / Mumbai
Experience : 7 to 10 Years

We are looking for an experienced Head of Operations to lead the end-to-end operations function for our trading technology business. The role will oversee Technical Operations (Linux / Trading Infrastructure) and Functional Operations, ensuring smooth, reliable and responsive support across algorithmic trading, proprietary and institutional trading desks, and manual trading platforms.

The ideal candidate will bring strong capital-markets domain knowledge, a practical understanding of trading technology and exchange connectivity, and proven experience leading cross-functional teams in a high-availability production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall Operations function, including Linux Technical Support / Operations and Functional Support teams.
• The Head of Operations will be required to visit client locations ( Mumbai , Noida ) frequently.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of Algorithmic, Proprietary, Institutional and Manual Trading platforms.
• Ensure production stability, system availability and smooth trading operations during market hours.
• Manage operational workflows related to Algo Trading, FIX, DMA, SOR, APIs and exchange connectivity.
• Drive incident management, troubleshooting, escalation handling and timely resolution of critical production issues.
• Coordinate with Development, QA, Product, Deployment and Support teams for issue resolution, releases and production readiness.
• Establish robust monitoring, escalation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes for recurring or critical incidents.
• Ensure smooth client onboarding, implementation, configuration, UAT, go-live and post-production support.
• Understand institutional and proprietary desk requirements and translate operational / business needs into actionable inputs for technical teams.
• Oversee deployment and operational support of directional, arbitrage and other algorithmic trading strategies.
• Work closely with institutional clients, trading desks and internal stakeholders on operational requirements, service quality and escalations.
• Ensure appropriate risk controls, operational checks and system-readiness processes before and during trading sessions.
• Define and continuously improve SOPs, operational controls, governance processes and team workflows.
• Track operational performance, system issues, client escalations and team deliverables through structured MIS and management reporting.
• Identify product and operational gaps and partner with Product and Development teams on enhancements and roadmap priorities.
• Build domain capability within the Operations team through structured training on capital markets, institutional flows, algos and trading systems.
• Mentor team leads and create a culture of ownership, accountability, proactive issue management and timely execution.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and successful product deliveries and implementations.
• Own ongoing client account management by reviewing current product usage and adoption, identifying underutilized capabilities and potential business opportunities, and recommending relevant products or services for upselling and cross-selling. Conduct structured monthly / quarterly client engagement to share new product launches, features, enhancements and applicable solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in Capital Markets, Trading Technology, Stock Broking or FinTech, with proven experience leading Operations, Technical Support and/or Functional Support teams.
• Strong understanding of Algorithmic Trading, Proprietary Trading and Institutional Trading workflows.
• Good understanding of manual trading and dealer / trading-terminal operations.
• Hands-on exposure to FIX Protocol, DMA, SOR, API-based order routing and exchange connectivity.
• Working knowledge of Linux-based production environments, application monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Experience handling production incidents, client escalations and RCA in live trading environments.
• Strong understanding of trading risk controls, operational readiness and market-hour support processes.
• Proven ability to coordinate across Product, Development, QA, Deployment and client-facing teams.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, team leadership and decision-making skills.
  Commercial awareness with the ability to identify account growth, cross-sell and upsell opportunities from client usage and business needs.

Preferred Profile

• Experience with a broker, exchange technology provider, OMS/RMS provider, algorithmic trading technology company or similar capital-markets environment.
• Prior experience managing live trading operations for Proprietary and/or Institutional desks.
• Exposure to Indian exchanges such as NSE, BSE and MCX; international market exposure would be an advantage.
• Experience managing mission-critical systems where uptime, latency, risk management and rapid incident resolution are essential.
• Demonstrated experience building, mentoring and leading high-performing operations teams.
