Job summary

ACG World in India’s Madhya Pradesh region seeks a capable Operations Manager to oversee capsule manufacturing, packing and printing. The role focuses on delivering production plans, maintaining quality, and optimizing asset utilization across the plant.

You will monitor operations, drive improvements with the Operations Head and CI&TT leaders, and manage costs, inventory, and on-time delivery while upholding safety standards. Experience in manufacturing operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on plan for production, assets capacity, manufacturing costs while maintaining quality standards
• Monitor operations as per production plan and trigger corrective actions
• Oversee capsule manufacturing, packing and printing processes
• Track and optimize plant productivity; support Operations Head and CI&TT head in improvements
• Ensure adherence to standards, metrics and performance targets for asset utilization
• Identify cost optimization opportunities (gelatin wastage, power, water, manpower) in operations
• Maintain product quality across all processes and output
• Manage budget volume and quality norms for production
• Propose productivity improvements for machines and processes
• Oversee inventory control of raw materials and finished goods
• Allocate plant resources for optimum day-to-day operations
• Ensure timely delivery and on-time production output
• Fully utilize assets to achieve optimal results
• Monitor running costs and ensure adherence to budgets
• Ensure quality standards in purchasing, logistics, planning and stores
• Review and approve supplier prices and terms
• Ensure timely dispatch per sales orders and follow up on delays
• Coordinate safety, environment, and maintenance initiatives
• Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Sign off plant resource and machine planning
• Liaise with EHS, SCM and HR for safety, requirements and training
• Drive people development, performance culture, and talent growth in the department
• Support capability development programs and HR initiatives
• Any other additional responsibility could be assigned by management

Primary responsibilities

Strategic and planning

• Deliver on plan for production, assets capacity, manufacturing costs while maintaining quality standards
• Monitor operations as per production plan and trigger corrective actions

Functional

Operations Management

• Oversee all systems and processes around capsule manufacturing, packing and printing
• Track and optimize productivity of the plant. Support the Operations Head and CI&TT head in implementing improvements
• Ensure adherence to standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
• Ensure cost optimizations to the extent possible (gelatin wastage, power, water, and manpower) in operations
• Ensure adherence to quality standards for all products and processes
• Maintain budget volume of products as per plan and quality norms
• Propose opportunities for increase in productivity in machines
• Oversee inventory control of raw materials and finished good products

Resource Management

• Oversee the resource allocation at the plant for optimum day-to-day operations
• Ensure adherence to delivery on production plan, production output, product quality, and on-time delivery
• Fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
• Monitor machine running costs in the plant and ensure budgets are adhered to

Supply Chain Management

• Ensure adherence of quality standards of key processes of purchase, logistics, planning and stores
• Review and approve negotiated prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders
• Ensure timely dispatch as per sales order
• Ensure appropriate follow up and escalation in case of delays in material delivery or in dispatch

EHS, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance and Engineering Services

• Ensure continued compliance with environmental and safety laws and regulations
• Review safety initiatives to promote and enhance safe workplace and the well-being of employees
• Identify needs relating to improvements in safety/ergonomics and developing and implementing solutions to these issues
• Review dataand analyse the same to identify improvement opportunities
• Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of machines and systems are fulfilled.
• Ensure the plant facility is fit and provide support/solutions when required.

Internal Processes

• Collect and analyse data to find cost saving opportunities
• Sign off on plant planning of resources and machines as required
• Liaison with EHS head to ensure adherence to plant safety procedures
• Liaison with Central SCM to understand the production requirements
• Ensure correct plant resource allocation

People development

• Take overall responsibility for people development initiatives and building up in-house capabilities for the employees in the department
• Drive a performance driven culture in the team by timely monitoring, review of performance parameters and feedback to the team members
• Contribute towards development of talent for the department by providing subordinates with adequate exposure and growth opportunities to enable readiness for higher roles
• Actively participate in HR initiatives to drive overall employee engagement and motivation
• Support capability development programs of ACPL and by identifying and recommending the training areas

Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.
