Qualifications

• Strong team leadership and people-management skills to guide, mentor, and grow an engineering organization.
• Proven engineering management and project management capabilities to plan, prioritize, and deliver complex initiatives on time and within scope.
• Hands-on software development expertise with modern technologies, architectures, and best practices.
• Experience building and scaling consumer-facing digital products, ideally health tech, data-intensive, or AI-driven environments.
• Demonstrated ability to design secure, scalable, and resilient systems with data protection and regulatory compliance in mind.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional influence.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Prior experience in a senior engineering leadership role (Head of Engineering/Director) is advantageous.

Role Description

The Head of Engineering at Essence Innovation is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mohali district. This role oversees the entire engineering function, including planning, building, and maintaining the AI-powered health app and supporting platforms. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring engineering teams, defining technical roadmaps, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and collaborating closely with product, design, and data teams to align technology initiatives with business goals. The Head of Engineering will establish best practices in architecture, security, scalability, and data privacy, and will monitor project progress, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
