Qualifications

• 20+ years of industry experience in technical roles with strong software engineering, technology leadership and people management experience.
• 8+ years of people management experience, including team performance, delivery, roadmap management, mentoring and coaching.
• Strong experience leading large-scale Enterprise Applications, ERP and Software Engineering functions.
• Strong expertise in Cloud Native Platforms Oracle or Azure, with proficiency in at least one of these platforms.
• Strong understanding of Software Engineering, AI/GenAI and enterprise technology transformation.

Responsibilities

• Defining and executing the multi-year strategy for Enterprise Business Applications and Technologies, including ERP, enterprise platforms and custom business applications.
• Leading enterprise-wide modernization initiatives and developing technology roadmaps aligned with strategic business priorities.
• Owning the strategy, governance, delivery and operational performance of enterprise ERP platforms across Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Procurement and related business functions.
• Leading high-performing engineering organisations responsible for enterprise applications, integrations, APIs, middleware, workflow platforms and digital business solutions.
• Driving adoption of modern engineering practices, reusable services, microservices architecture, API-first design and enterprise integration standards.
• Defining and executing AI strategies across enterprise business operations, including Generative AI, Agentic AI, intelligent automation, predictive analytics and AI-enabled digital solutions.

Our client is a leading global healthcare organisation seeking an Executive Director Software Engineering to provide strategic leadership across Enterprise Business Applications and Technologies.

The role will drive enterprise-wide modernization, ERP transformation, software engineering, AI adoption and platform strategy, while partnering closely with senior business and technology stakeholders.

Reporting into senior IT leadership, this is a strategic technology leadership position with responsibility for enterprise applications, ERP platforms, software engineering, integrations, cloud technologies and AI-driven transformation. The role will lead multidisciplinary teams and drive technology roadmaps, operational excellence and business value across a global organisation.

• Leading multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, architects, product managers, ERP specialists, program managers, AI practitioners and business analysts.
• Driving talent development, succession planning, leadership development, engineering excellence and a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

To be eligible for this role you will require:

• 20+ years of industry experience in technical roles with strong software engineering, technology leadership and people management experience.
• 8+ years of people management experience, including team performance, delivery, roadmap management, mentoring and coaching.
• Strong experience leading large-scale Enterprise Applications, ERP and Software Engineering functions.
• Strong expertise in Cloud Native Platforms Oracle or Azure, with proficiency in at least one of these platforms.
• Strong understanding of Software Engineering, AI/GenAI and enterprise technology transformation.
• Proven experience in Solution Architecture and Product Roadmap development.
• Exposure to Oracle ERP is preferred.
• Experience driving enterprise-wide modernization, platform simplification, standardization, automation and digital transformation.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive-level communication skills within complex, matrixed organisations.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline.
