Recrew AI is seeking a Head of Compliance to lead end-to-end regulatory, IP/copyright, data privacy, payments, and app store compliance for its radio network and digital platform.

This senior role shapes policy across multi-market operations and works with product and engineering to embed privacy-by-design practices.

Qualifications

• 10–13 years of compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs experience with hands-on ownership of IP/copyright and content regulation.
• Expertise in IT Rules 2021 and Indian self-regulatory frameworks for digital content and broadcasting.
• Working knowledge of DPDP Act and GDPR, with experience implementing or auditing data privacy programs.
• Exposure to app store policies (Google Play / Apple App Store) in a compliance or product-legal capacity.
• Experience managing payments compliance in a digital consumer product context.

Responsabilités

• Own and operationalize compliance frameworks across IP/copyright, IT Rules 2021, data privacy, payments regulation, and app store policies for radio and digital platforms.
• Monitor and interpret evolving content regulations across India and international markets; translate into internal policies.
• Lead licensing negotiations and renewals with music rights bodies, content aggregators, and regulatory authorities; manage takedown and dispute resolution.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to embed privacy-by-design and compliance checkpoints into the app's release pipelines.
• Liaise with app store platforms to ensure policy adherence, manage rejections, and resolve content or payment-related flags.
• Represent the organization in regulatory interactions, industry forums, and self-regulatory body proceedings.
• Build and maintain an internal compliance calendar, audit schedule, and reporting cadence for leadership and the board.

Position Overview

This role owns the end-to-end compliance function for the company's radio network and digital platform, spanning content regulation, IP/copyright, data privacy, payments, and app distribution. The incumbent will build and enforce frameworks that keep a multi-market, multi-format media business legally sound as it scales internationally. This is a senior leadership role with direct influence on product, content, and business decisions.

Role & Responsibilities

• Own and operationalize compliance frameworks across IP/copyright, IT Rules 2021, data privacy (DPDP, GDPR), payments regulation, and app store policies for both radio and digital platforms
• Monitor and interpret evolving content regulations across India and international markets (US, SEA, or other active geographies), translating regulatory changes into actionable internal policies
• Lead licensing negotiations and renewals with music rights bodies, content aggregators, and regulatory authorities; manage takedown and dispute resolution processes
• Partner with product and engineering teams to embed privacy-by-design and compliance checkpoints into the digital platform app's release and content distribution pipelines
• Liaise with app store platforms (Google Play, Apple App Store) to ensure policy adherence, manage rejections, and resolve content or payment-related flags
• Represent the organization in regulatory interactions, industry forums, and self-regulatory body proceedings (e.g., ASCI, BCCC, or equivalent)
• Build and maintain an internal compliance calendar, audit schedule, and reporting cadence for senior leadership and the board

Must Have Criteria

• 10–13 years of compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs experience with hands-on ownership of IP/copyright and content regulation
• Demonstrated expertise in IT Rules 2021 and Indian self-regulatory frameworks applicable to digital content and broadcasting
• Working knowledge of the DPDP Act and GDPR, with experience implementing or auditing data privacy programs
• Prior exposure to app store policies (Google Play / Apple App Store) in a compliance or product-legal capacity
• Experience managing payments compliance in a digital consumer product context

Nice to Have

• International compliance exposure across at least one market outside India (US, SEA, or equivalent multi-market environment)
• Background in broadcast media, OTT, music streaming, or digital content platforms
• Familiarity with music licensing bodies such as PPL, IPRS, or international equivalents
• Experience working with self-regulatory bodies such as ASCI or BCCC
