Job summary

Pocket FM is an AI-powered entertainment company seeking a Senior Privacy Counsel to build and run the privacy program from day one. You will work directly with engineering, product, security, and business teams to map data flows, decide what matters, and ship robust privacy controls.

You will own global privacy strategy across DPDP Act, GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA, lead DPIAs and DPAs, and drive a culture of privacy across the organization.

Qualifications

• 6+ years post-qualification with deep privacy experience.
• Hands-on GDPR, DPDP Act and CCPA/CPRA knowledge.
• Proven track record building or scaling privacy programs in tech.

Responsibilities

• Define global privacy strategy across DPDP Act, GDPR, and CPRA.
• Shape architectures, data models, APIs, and features with privacy by design.
• Build the data maps, DPIAs, consent frameworks, and data-subject-rights workflows.
• Conduct vendor reviews, DPA negotiations, and cross-border transfer planning.
• Co-lead incident response and regulator engagement with Security and other teams.
• Foster privacy culture through practical training and visible wins.

As privacy legal counsel, you won't advise on a program. You'll build it and run it, from day one.

You'll work directly with engineering, product, security, and business teams to map how data moves, decide what matters, and ship the controls. You bring a lawyer's judgment, an operator's bias for action, and the credibility to hold your own with engineers.

What You'll Own

• Global privacy strategy: Set the direction and own compliance across India's DPDP Act, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging regulations. Turn regulatory change into clear priorities, not memos
• Privacy by design: Shape architectures, data models, APIs, and features before they ship. Turn legal requirements into standards for consent, retention, and deletion that teams can apply without waiting on Legal
• The privacy engine: Build the data maps, ROPAs, DPIAs, consent frameworks, and data-subject-rights workflows yourself, including the templates and tooling that let them scale
• Vendor and cross-border risk: Own privacy reviews, DPA negotiations, sub-processor risk, and cross-border transfer strategy across a multi-entity global business
• Incident and regulatory response: Co-lead response playbooks with Security, and own regulator engagement, complaints, escalations, and breach notifications
• Culture and adoption: Make privacy part of how Pocket FM builds and decides, through relationships, practical training, and visible wins

What You Bring

• 6+ years post-qualification and deep privacy experience
• Command over India's DPDP Act and hands-on GDPR experience, with working knowledge of CCPA/CPRA and other frameworks
• A track record of building or scaling a tech company's privacy program, designing the processes and running the workflows yourself
• Fluency in data flows, API specs, consent architecture, and deletion logic, so you can talk to engineers as a peer
• Sound judgment: you separate material risk from manageable risk, influence without authority, and deliver with autonomy
