The Head of Application Engineering will lead the development and deployment of customized machining solutions to meet customer requirements. Job responsibilities/description:
- Collaborate with customers to understand their manufacturing challenges and requirements.
- Provide technical consultations and recommend optimal machine tools, tooling, and machining processes.
- Lead pre‑sales technical discussions, including machine demonstrations, feasibility studies, and ROI analysis.
Solution Development:
- Design and develop tailored machining solutions, including process optimization and cycle time reduction.
- Oversee the creation of part programs and process flows for customer components.
- Evaluate and recommend cutting tools, fixtures, and accessories to enhance productivity.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high‑performing application engineering team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning within the team.
Technical Support:
- Provide end‑to‑end support for machine installation, trials, and commissioning at customer sites.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and offer solutions to improve accuracy, surface finish, and throughput.
- Conduct training programs for customers and internal teams on machine usage, programming, and process optimization.
Product Development Support:
- Collaborate with R&D and design teams to provide feedback on product performance and customer needs.
- Participate in new product development initiatives to ensure customer requirements are met.
Market and Industry Insights:
- Stay updated on advancements in machining technologies, materials, and customer industries.
- Benchmark competitors and identify emerging trends to ensure the company remains a leader in application engineering.
- Proficiency in CNC programming (e.g., G‑code, CAM software).
- In‑depth knowledge of machining processes, materials, and cutting tools.
- Strong customer orientation with excellent communication and presentation skills.

- Certifications in CNC programming or advanced machining technologies.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 20+ years of experience in application engineering or machining solutions, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the machine tools industry.
- Expertise in CNC machining, tooling selection, and process optimization across various industries such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing.
