Role & Responsibilities
As a critical member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Head – Finance will serve as the chief architect of Nasscom Foundation’s financial strategy, fiscal health, and corporate governance. This apex role holds ultimate accountability for institutionalising world‑class financial practices, ensuring flawless compliance with domestic and international regulatory frameworks (including FCRA and CSR), and mitigating organisational risk. The incumbent will act as a strategic co‑pilot to the CEO and the Board of Directors, driving financial sustainability, institutional growth, and safeguarding the foundation’s public credibility and donor trust.
Executive Leadership & Strategic Finance
- Board & CEO Advisory: Act as the principal financial advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors, presenting forward‑looking financial insights, sustainability models, and high‑level risk assessments to influence long‑term organisational strategy.
- Fiscal Strategy: Formulate and execute financial policies, long‑term capital planning, and investment strategies to support multi‑stakeholder, large‑scale social impact programmes.
- Team Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the finance function; mentor, build, and retain a high‑performing finance team while embedding a culture of absolute integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Financial Architecture & Operations
- Institutional Controls: Establish, institutionalise, and continuously upgrade world‑class financial systems, internal controls, and automated processes to support rapid scaling.
- Executive Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of comprehensive financial reports, corporate budgets, forecasts, and statutory accounts for leadership and board‑level review.
- Audit & Assurance: Direct the statutory, internal, and donor audit processes, ensuring immediate execution of corrective measures to continuously harden institutional governance.
Grants, Donor & Ecosystem Management
- Framework Design: Design and deploy sophisticated financial management and monitoring frameworks for complex, multi‑million‑dollar donor‑funded programmes.
- Contractual Oversight: Provide ultimate oversight on the negotiation and execution of high‑value MoUs, service contracts, and agreements with corporate donors, government bodies, and implementation partners to protect organisational interests.
- Stakeholder Trust: Ensure the delivery of immaculate financial insights and reporting to international and domestic donors, enhancing institutional credibility.
Risk, Governance & Compliance
- Regulatory Command: Maintain absolute oversight on statutory compliances unique to the sector, including FCRA, CSR investments, Income Tax, and other applicable legal frameworks.
- Risk Mitigation: Develop and champion a comprehensive, organisation‑wide risk management and compliance matrix to insulate the foundation from reputational and financial vulnerabilities.
- Board Secretariat Oversight: Oversee institutional governance requirements for the Board, ensuring flawless compliance regarding statutory documentation and the convening of board meetings.
Key Requirements
- Experience Profile: 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a proven track record as a Finance Head, Director, or Controller, ideally within the development sector, large‑scale NGOs, or corporate CSR ecosystems.
- Regulatory Mastery: Deep, non‑negotiable expertise in FCRA regulations, CSR laws, Indian tax compliance, and managing complex donor‑restricted funds.
- Board‑Level Presence: Demonstrated gravitas and capability to operate at the Board level, articulate financial complexities clearly, and command respect from diverse external stakeholders.
- Systems Builder: Proven track record of transforming legacy financial systems into modern, robust, and scalable architectures.
