Job summary

Tech Mahindra in Hyderabad, India, seeks a Hardware Audio Lab Testing professional to evaluate acoustic and electronic performance of speakers, microphones, and headsets.

You will manage lab equipment, run automated tests with Python or MATLAB, and collaborate with hardware, software, and UX teams to improve prototype sound quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Experience with lab gear and measurement tools (oscilloscopes, signal generators, acoustic analyzers).
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data processing and automation.
• Hands-on testing of acoustic and electronic performance.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and document defects.

Responsibilities

• Acoustic Testing: Run frequency response, distortion, impedance, and SNR measurements using HATS systems.
• Lab Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, and maintain recording equipment and test chambers.
• Execution & Automation: Write or run automated/manual scripts (Python/MATLAB) to collect and process data.
• Debugging & Analysis: Troubleshoot hardware/setup issues and report defects.
• Collaboration: Work with hardware, software, and UX teams to improve prototype sound quality.

As a Hardware audio lab testing role involves evaluating acoustic and electronic performance, managing specialized lab equipment, and validating audio hardware like speakers, microphones, and headsets.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Technical Tools: Hands-on experience with lab gear (oscilloscopes, signal generators, acoustic analyzers) and programming languages like Python or MATLAB.

Key Responsibilities:

• Acoustic Testing: Run frequency response, distortion, impedance, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) measurements using Head and Torso Simulator (HATS) systems.
• Lab Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, and maintain recording equipment, microphones, and anechoic or reverberant test chambers.
• Execution & Automation: Write or run automated/manual scripts (using Python or MATLAB) to collect and process acoustic datasets.
• Debugging & Analysis: Troubleshoot hardware and setup issues, perform root-cause analysis, and report defects through quality management tools.
• Collaboration: Work alongside hardware, software, and UX design teams to improve prototype sound quality and audio performance.
