Qualifications

• 15–18+ years of software engineering and leadership experience.

• Proven track record growing from individual contributor to Engineering Management and leading multiple teams.
• Deep understanding of modern software practices, cloud, DevOps, and architecture principles.
• Ability to engage credibly with Architects, senior engineers, and customer technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams and Engineering Managers, ensuring delivery quality, engineering excellence, and predictable outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership with strong understanding of software engineering, architecture, cloud, and DevOps, without acting as Architect.
• Partner with Architects and Engineering Managers to identify risks, trade-offs, and ensure standards are followed.
• Drive adoption of modern practices including automation, CI/CD, cloud-native development, platform engineering, observability, and AI-assisted engineering.
• Lead people development, hiring, succession planning, and development of strong technical leadership.
• Own delivery governance, customer relationships, escalations, resource planning, utilization, forecasting, and portfolio health.

Position Summary

The Group Manager is responsible for leading a portfolio of engineering teams, ensuring successful delivery, engineering excellence, people development, and operational and financial health across multiple customer engagements.

The role combines engineering leadership, technical understanding, delivery governance, and people leadership. The Group Manager should have a strong software engineering background and be technically credible across areas such as modern application development, cloud, DevOps, architecture practices, and emerging technologies such as AI. The role is not expected to be hands‑on at an Architect level, but should be able to understand technical decisions, challenge risks and trade‑offs, and guide Engineering Managers and technical leaders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams and Engineering Managers, ensuring delivery quality, engineering excellence, and predictable outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance with a strong understanding of software engineering, architecture practices, cloud, and DevOps, without being expected to operate at an Architect level.
• Partner with Architects and Engineering Managers to identify technical risks, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure appropriate engineering standards and practices are followed.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including automation, CI/CD, cloud‑native development, platform engineering, observability, and AI‑assisted engineering.
• Lead people development, capability building, hiring, succession planning, and development of strong engineering and technical leadership.
• Own delivery governance, customer relationships, escalations, resource planning, utilization, forecasting, and portfolio financial health.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, engineering productivity, reuse, automation, and adoption of emerging technologies.
• Partner with Service Line and Account leadership on strategic initiatives, customer growth, and engineering opportunities.

Skills & Experience

Required

• 15–18+ years of experience in software engineering and engineering leadership.
• Strong engineering background with prior experience in one or more core technologies such as Java, .NET, APIs, web technologies, databases, or similar platforms.
• Experience growing from an engineering/technical role into Engineering Management and leading multiple engineering teams or managers.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering, Agile delivery, architecture principles, cloud, DevOps, and engineering practices.
• Ability to engage credibly with Architects, senior engineers, Engineering Managers, and customer technology stakeholders.
• Strong people leadership, stakeholder management, communication, delivery governance, resource planning, and financial management skills.

Preferred

• Experience with any one AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Exposure to cloud-native architectures, Platform Engineering, DevOps, observability, and application modernization.
• Experience with AI-assisted software engineering, AI adoption, or emerging agentic engineering practices.
• Experience supporting presales.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, communities of practice, or reusable engineering assets.
