ASKA Equipment Pvt. Ltd., a leader in disaster response and fire & safety technologies with a Delhi HQ and Roorkee manufacturing base, seeks a Senior Manager/Manager Railways to drive government railways sales from New Delhi.

Role involves developing long-term relationships with Indian Railways and other government bodies, leading end-to-end bids, negotiating contracts, guiding a sales team, and ensuring on-time delivery, while monitoring market trends and reporting to the Railways Division Head.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required.
  • MBA/PGDM is a plus for the role with government sales focus.
  • 8-12 years of government sales experience, especially with railways, are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive strategic sales plans for railway and government sector.
  • Identify opportunities, monitor government policies related to railways.
  • Manage end-to-end sales cycle including bidding and contracts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Indian Railways, Railway Boards, PSUs, and other government bodies.
  • Lead and mentor the sales team; provide training on tenders and product offerings.
  • Coordinate with technical, legal and finance teams for tendering and contracts.
  • Monitor orders and ensure timely delivery as per client requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance and market trends.

Position Overview

The Manager - Government Sales (Railways) will play a pivotal role in managing and expanding our business with government clients, particularly in the railway sector. The role involves driving sales, developing long-term relationships with key decision-makers in Indian Railways and other government agencies, as well as overseeing the end-to-end sales process from lead generation to contract finalization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to meet or exceed the sales targets in the railway and government sector.
  • Identify new business opportunities and stay updated on government policies and initiatives related to the railway industry.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle, including bidding processes, client negotiations, and finalization of contracts.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key government bodies, especially Indian Railways, Railway Boards, PSUs, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government clients, addressing inquiries and providing customized solutions.
  • Manage customer expectations and ensure timely delivery of products and services.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the sales team, ensuring efficient collaboration and effective execution of sales strategies.
  • Provide regular training to the team on the latest product offerings, sales techniques, and government tendering procedures.
  • Tender & Contract Management: Lead the preparation and submission of bids and tenders, ensuring compliance with all specifications, technical requirements, and regulations.
  • Coordinate with the internal teams (technical, legal, finance) to ensure smooth processing of contracts and sales agreements.
  • Monitor and track all sales orders and ensure timely delivery as per client requirements.
  • Market Research & Reporting: Conduct in-depth research on market trends, competitor activity, and upcoming railway projects funded by the government.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on sales performance, market analysis, and potential risks.
  • Negotiation & Closing Deals: Effectively negotiate contract terms, pricing, and conditions with government stakeholders, ensuring profitability and long-term business relations.
  • Ensure successful closure of deals, providing the necessary follow-up to ensure client satisfaction.
Key Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields. A post-graduate degree (MBA/PGDM) is a plus.
Experience
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in government sales, with a focus on the railway sector. Experience in handling government tenders, contracts, and negotiations is essential.
  • Proven experience working with Indian Railways, government PSUs, or other governmental bodies related to the transport or infrastructure sectors.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of the railway industry, government procurement processes, and the Indian governments policies related to railway modernization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence key decision-makers.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to navigate complex bidding and tendering processes.
  • Knowledge of GEM portal tenders and tenders on IREPS.
  • For Railways good knowledge of working procedure of procurement of railways at various production units, workshops, Mechanical, electrical and engineering department including travel to zonal & divisional railways is a must.
  • Min 15 days travel in a month is a must PAN India.
