Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field; gemology or precious metals appraisal certification is highly desirable.
3–5 years of gold appraisal or valuation experience in financial services or banking, preferably with gold loan exposure.
Knowledge of gold purity testing, market pricing, and regulatory guidelines for gold loans.

Responsibilities

Conduct physical inspection and verification of gold items for loan processing; ensure authenticity and quality.
Accurately assess purity, weight, and market value using standard tools and techniques.
Stay updated on gold market trends, price fluctuations, and regulatory guidelines affecting valuations.
Prepare detailed appraisal reports supporting loan sanctioning in line with policy.
Collaborate with credit and risk teams to identify and mitigate collateral risks.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal audit requirements for gold appraisal.
Train and mentor junior staff on appraisal procedures and quality standards.
Maintain appraisal equipment calibration and functionality for precise measurements.
Communicate appraisal outcomes clearly to customers and address queries.
Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of gold loan ops.
