Job summary

Experis is seeking a GIS Technical Specialist in Pune for a Contract to Hire role. The candidate should bring a hands-on GIS development background and strong delivery management experience to lead end‑to‑end GIS and telecom projects in a hybrid setup.

You will drive project plans, track milestones, manage dependencies, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams across onsite and offshore locations, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of GIS and Telecom projects from initiation through closure.
• Maintain and track project plans, milestones, dependencies, and delivery trackers.
• Lead, track, and validate technical deliverables against plans and quality standards.
• Drive delivery tracking through Jira: Epics, Features, User Stories, Tasks, Bugs, backlogs, sprints, boards, releases.
• Build and maintain Jira dashboards, queries, and reports for real-time visibility.
• Drive sprint ceremonies: planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives.
• Coordinate with developers, tech leads and solution architects on GIS architecture and integration.
• Review code/design and guide implementation decisions with hands-on GIS development.
• Monitor risks, dependencies, issues, changes; drive mitigation and escalation.
• Prepare governance forums, MoMs and status updates for stakeholders.
• Create status reports and executive decks using Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ensure adherence to SDLC, quality standards and customer compliance.

Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned GIS Technical Specialist with strong experience in GIS development and Technical Project Management. The candidate should have a hands-on GIS development background combined with proven experience in delivery management, technical validation, and end-to-end project execution.

The role requires a technically grounded professional who can bridge project management and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of GIS and Telecom projects from initiation through closure, ensuring scope, timelines, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
• Prepare, maintain, and track project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, and delivery trackers.
• Lead, track, and validate technical work and deliverables to ensure alignment with project plans and quality standards.
• Drive project management, execution, and delivery tracking through Jira, including Epics, Features, User Stories, Tasks, Bugs, backlogs, sprint plans, boards, and release trackers.
• Build and maintain Jira dashboards, queries, and reports for real-time delivery visibility.
• Drive sprint ceremonies including planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Leverage Azure DevOps (ADO) for cloud migration and application modernization workstreams, including repositories, pipelines, and release coordination.
• Coordinate with developers, technical leads, and solution architects to review technical deliverables and provide inputs on GIS architecture, integration, and implementation.
• Leverage hands-on GIS development experience to participate in technical discussions, review code/design, and guide implementation decisions.
• Monitor project risks, dependencies, issues, and change requests, and drive mitigation, resolution, and escalation.
• Conduct project governance forums, steering reviews, and status meetings, including agendas, MoMs, and follow-up actions.
• Prepare project status reports, governance updates, executive presentations, and stakeholder decks using Excel and PowerPoint.
• Drive structured stakeholder communication across business users, delivery teams, vendors, and leadership.
• Ensure adherence to delivery processes, SDLC, quality standards, documentation requirements, and customer compliance expectations.
• Coordinate effectively in multicultural and global delivery environments, including onsite customer engagements.

Required Qualifications

• 1014 years of overall experience in the IT / Telecom industry.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on GIS development experience covering Telecom GIS, geospatial solutions, utility mapping, network spatial systems, or related areas.
• 5+ years of Technical Project Management / Delivery Management experience.
• Hands-on experience with Jira, including work items, backlogs, sprints, boards, dashboards, and reports.
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO) in cloud migration, application modernization, and CI/CD-based delivery models.
• Strong experience in project planning, milestone tracking, dependency management, and delivery monitoring.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery practices and sprint-based governance.
• Strong understanding of GIS and exposure to Telecom BSS, OSS, and network spatial systems.
• Hands-on technical background in software development, application design, integration, or related GIS technical roles.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, implementation methodologies, project governance, risk management, and delivery management practices.
• Strong documentation, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• Experience managing customer-facing projects, cross-functional teams, and multiple stakeholders.
• Experience working across multiple accounts and geographies, with onsite customer-facing exposure.
• Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
• Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• Project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, or equivalent.
• Exposure to cloud migration, enterprise application modernization, or managed services delivery models.
