Job summary

Balasore Alloys is seeking a Mining Engineer to plan and supervise exploratory drilling, sampling and geological modelling in an open-cast mining environment. You will prepare detailed mining plans, perform reserve estimation and ensure ore/waste demarcation meets quality requirements.

The role requires hands-on experience in open-cast mining, proficiency in Surpac/Datamine/MineSched/MineScape/Micromine, and a solid understanding of MMDR Act, MCDR 2017 and Mines Act 1952.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in operating an open-cast mine (limestone / iron ore / coal / etc.).
• Working knowledge of mine planning software such as Surpac, Datamine, MineSched, MineScape or Micromine.
• Sound understanding of MMDR Act, MCDR 2017, Mines Act 1952 and related returns.
• Strong analytical, reporting and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise exploratory drilling, core logging, sampling and assay programmes; maintain borehole and sample records.
• Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, bench plans and 3D ore body models using mine planning software.
• Carry out reserve and resource estimation, grade control and ore/waste demarcation to meet blending and quality requirements.
• Monitor working faces daily, mark ore boundaries and advise on selective mining to control dilution and losses.
• Prepare and update the Mining Plan, Scheme of Mining and annual returns for submission to IBM / DGMS / State Mining Department.
• Coordinate with the Survey, Planning and Production teams for short-term and long-term mine scheduling.
• Maintain statutory geological registers and support environmental, forest and lease-related statutory documentation.
