Job summary

A mineral resources company in Hyderabad is seeking a Director of Mining Operations to manage end-to-end mining operations of granite, quartz, and other natural stones. The role involves team leadership, compliance with safety regulations, and strategic planning to meet business targets. Candidates should have a minimum of 15–20 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a senior management position. A degree in Mining Engineering is mandatory and certifications in mine management are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Develop annual operating budgets and ensure cost control across sites.

Job description

To lead and manage the end-to-end mining operations of granite, quartz, other natural stones and Heavy Mineral Sands ensuring maximum productivity, quality output, statutory compliance, safety and sustainable mining practices.

The incumbent will be responsible for strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership across operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operational Management Oversee day-to-day quarry operations including drilling, blasting, cutting, and loading of granite and quartz blocks. Develop and implement mine plans and production schedules to meet annual business targets. Ensure continuous improvement in recovery percentage, block quality, and yield.
  2. Technical & Process Control Coordinate with geologists and engineers for identification of new deposits and implement advanced mining techniques and mechanization to improve efficiency and safety. Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of heavy mining machinery.
  3. Statutory Compliance & Safety Ensure full compliance with DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety) and other mining regulations. Maintain all statutory records, returns, and permits (EC, FC, mining plan, etc.). Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular safety audits and training programs. Liaise with government authorities for inspection, renewals, and environmental clearances.
  4. People Management Lead a team of mine managers, engineers, supervisors, and operators. Drive performance through mentoring, training, and skill development. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  5. Commercial & Strategic Responsibilities Develop annual operating budgets and ensure cost control across sites. Coordinate with sales and logistics teams for dispatch planning and client requirements. Contribute to strategic decisions related to mine acquisitions, expansions, and long-term resource planning. Evaluate vendors, contractors, and service providers for mining and maintenance activities. Field-based leadership role with frequent travel between Ongole, Warangal, Kodad and other mines. Requires coordination with head office, government agencies, and field teams.

  • Cost per cubic meter / ton mined
  • Block recovery percentage and quality grade
  • Compliance and zero accident record
  • Machine utilization and downtime reduction
  • Timely statutory renewals and audits clearance
Qualifications & Experience

Education: B.E./BTech/Diploma in Mining Engineering (mandatory)

Certifications: First Class Mines Manager Certificate (DGMS) preferred

Experience: Minimum 15–20 years of experience in related mining operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management capacity handling granite or quartz stone mines.
